Give me some impressions, I played probably 2 hours of the beta andI wasn't sold completely. Never played an MMO.
Neither have I. I'm giving this a go owing to the fact I'm a DC fan, and I wanna get into MMO's in preperation for the upcoming Star Wars one.

So I finished the 13GB download.

Then Steam had to install some more stuff.

Then I had to make another account at Station.com.

Then I had to buy a subscription.

Now it's downloding a 2.4GB patch.

If I get to play it some time this year, I'll let you guys know.

Finally got to play a bit of it. Enjoying it so far. Created my character, a hero, and the first part of the game's basically a tutorial.

The opening cutscene (before you make your character) is f-ing epic.

Agree on the cut scene - one of the best I've seen. Makes you think they should go CGI when they finally get around to a DCU movie - could do any story they wanted and it would be a lot easier to get the original actors together for what would only be voicework & promotion. Would even work for actors as they age - they'll still sound the same. Could even work in a Hedger like Joker performance if you were being cheeky. And it could take a bit of pressure off the 'real' DC movies needing to integrate all the time.

Going off on a tangent but it's the the credit of the cut scene that you can start thinking along these lines.

Back to the game, the server downtimes are killing me. Every freaking night at 11pm *no soup for you* Haven't written my letter of complaint yet but will post the response here when I do - SoE need to pull their finger out and show some love to our region.

i was close to picking this up today...i'm glad i didn't cause i can't really see myself playing it enough for it to be worth it.

the boxart is sweet

This. I already play WoW, and paying $35 for 2 months for that, I can't see this game hooking me in to pay $20 a month to play, even if it's a DC MMORPG. The game looks good, but $89 to for basically a 30 day trial, which could leave it collecting dust just doesn't seem worth the money.

Agree, I think the costing for MMO's is broken. I think they need to do something like $50 for the game and up to level 5 or 10 is free. By then you should know if you like the game or not and your access is not controlled by some 30 days nonsense.

Then after that $5 or $10 a month sounds about right - $20 is too much for one title let two or three of them.

IMO original game should be even cheaper than that if not free. All MMOs should give you access to a trail version (Blizzard package various "Trail Keys" within their games... Cata came with 2 WoW trial keys and 2 SC2 keys).

MMOs might as well give everyone access to trial keys giving them 10-14 days use and a level cap (varies depending on the MMO).

If people like and want it then charge them a one-off game charge (say $20) plus subscription cost.

I'm not really sure why more publishers won't release MMO trials either. Most of them have trials after a year or two, but I'm pretty sure it's in their interest to get people hooked and paying ASAP.

Anyone know which stores sell the game time cards for this?

i know the psn store sells them.

so if you don't have a credit/debit card maybe go to eb or jb and buy one of their psn cards and purchase it from the store that way.

99 dollars for half a year is the best value for money.....if you can call it that.

Got told that there are no game cards for PC, have to use credit card and maybe paypal?

PS3 as Cam said

SOE cards will work. They cover all SOE games from Everquest 1 to DCU. I'm not sure how many retailers sell them in aus though. They do exist, however.

Half a year? LOL no camo. Apparently there isn't even 25 days worth of content there.

Got it in ps3. Played for a few hours last night after the several hours all the shit took to download and install. Haven't had any lag or downtime issues.

Made a villain with ice power, flight and a staff. She's awesome, but I don't really know what I'm doing and am probably wasting my skill points

My cousin talked me into getting this. Installing/downloading all the crap now. He has always been into MMO's, this is my first.

I didn't actually know the first 30 days was free until he told me, I'll probably play as much as I can in the 30 days and if I'm not sick of it, I'll get the extra month. But most likely not, as we're both gonna get killzone 3 and move onto that when its out. Plus I still have to finish ME2, deadspace 2, GT5...

SOE certainly know how to make a cinematic!

i'm not sure if this game is for real or not.....

i have literally had this stupid thing downloading a 120mb patch to start off with and installing that, then installing whatever game data which took over 40 minutes and now i'm 18% through a 2.3? gig download of SOMETHING!?!?!?? which has been going for 1 hour 1 minute and 21 seconds as of typing this.

basically 2 hours total already with what is likely to be another 4 hours downloading the remaining 2 gig.........WTF IS THIS!?!?

to anybody who's played it on the ps3 is it actually worth it since i don't plan on playing it beyond the initial 30 day trial anyway since i got it for free....

honestly is this the longest start up of all time?

an hour and 45 mins in and now at 30%......

i mean i know it's my shitty nets fault but my free 30 day trial is going to be over before this even downloads and installs!

It took FOREVER (hours) for me Camo and im running an average net speed.

lol well i'm currently at 66% which equates to roughly 1680mb downloaded (2.5 gig d/l) in 3 hours and 50 minutes.....
damn my flipping pathetic speeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i could've been streaming movies or watching shows or playing games :(

i'll be spewing if i hate it lol

Haha definetely the longest start up time of any game I've ever played. I've had this for almost 2 weeks now and have a level 30 character, and 2 other characters at level 17. Fun game (especially playing with someone you know) but won't be playing once the free month runs out
