That's why you have stories like Argos from mythology and also real life dogs such as Hachiko and Greyfriars Bobby. Whilst you never hear stories of loyal cats.
Except Milo from Milo & Otis who refused to abandon her family during the harsh winter.

Loyalty's great, but it's not the be all and end all of having a pet.What about any real stories?
It also might just be me, but I find the stories of dogs waiting 10 years for their dead masters to be the highest level of loyalty in pets.
I like dogs but they're just so damn needy. Sometimes it's nicer to have a cat around... you get the company without the constant appeals for attention.
If your dad will be able to handle it, call him privately and tell him. Mean he can break it to your mum when the time is right and in person.
