No, not yet. Will be doing another run through after i finish my current one with a co-op partner, i may end up giving it a go on Hardcore if the co-op partner is interested. Not going anywhere near Pure Survival. Sounds like torture.

Done it.

It is pretty awesome actually.

What is hardcore exactly? It says you can save but if you die then you go back to the start? I don't even get it.

You can save the game to exit out and restart (so basically you don't have to play 10-20 hours straight), but if you die, your save gets wiped so you can't reload it.

So, basically just no in-game check points?

Still though, that'd be hard, some parts in DS3 pissed me off.

Yep, it's one step up from Dead Space 2's mode where you could only make 3 saves and when you died you reverted back to that.

This time, if you die, you have to restart the entire campaign.

Finished the first one and holy s***, the ending scared the hell out of me. Can't wait to start on the 2nd one tonight, hopefully I can finish 2&3 before uni start. I just loved how edgy I was feeling during the first 2-3 hours. Had a nephew who randomly cries at night that made me s*** myself more than the game itself.

First 2 are brilliant. I'm nearing the end of 3 (Chapter 17 i think) and i feel as though it falls a little short of the first 2. The music and atmosphere are brilliant, but it's sometimes a little bit full on action and it seems like more of a cut and paste job with some of the environments at times. I found myself saying "Haven't i been through here before?" in particular with side missions.

Finished this game! Was pretty good, will be tough to beat for Game of the Year honours.

Even though the game tried to pass off that Ellie might have died due to the gas after constructing Rosetta, it was kind of a giveaway she was still alive when you receive a transmission from her shortly after, or was that just me? Also, did you lot wait until after the end credits for the transmission from Isaac? I would have been a sad puppy if they decided to kill him off, but there is hope due to the transmission at the end. Although can't really take the story much further anyway.

Rescue mission perhaps?

What do you mean? :p Straight after you close the door on her and you're running towards somewhere else, you have a sort dialogue with her through the radio like everything is fine. My ears must have been deceiving me, i'll look out for it again on my next playthrough.

Also; this song is great from the soundtrack. It builds really nicely although it's not long enough and feels like it ends too soon.

Looks like Dead Space is done for. I hate to say it, but this is what happens when you **** with a formula that works. I knew this would be the resulting outcome, you straddle the line and appeal to less, so nobody buys it.

EA have come out with a typical company line, but the way they state it, to me it sounds like they agree that the series is done. And the whole Visceral Montreal thing seems plausible, as they were shut down after the PS4 announcement (EA claiming a reaction to the announcement of 'next-gen').

Source: http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/d...ble_following_poor_sales_of_dead_space_3.html
UPDATE: EA has responded with the following official statement:
"While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA."

ORIGINAL STORY: EA has ceased development on Dead Space 4 and effectively axed the series following lower than anticipated sales of Dead Space 3, VideoGamer.com has learned.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source familiar with the unannounced project told VideoGamer.com that Dead Space 4 had been in pre-production at Visceral Games, with a small team at Visceral Montreal allegedly tasked with developing prototypes and mock-ups for the title, and collaborating on ideas for the game's narrative.

However, the project was cancelled after Dead Space 3 failed to meet its sales targets, our source claims, telling us that EA executives visited Visceral Montreal last month to inform staff that the project had been terminated and announce details of the company's restructuring.

That is pretty ****ing sad. Ok, so DS3 wasn't as good as the first 2, but you think people would have jumped on it anyway on the back of how brilliant the first 2 were. I don't know whether i have crap taste in games or something, but i would have thought a title like DS3 would have been in line for GOTY or been one of the bigger releases this year. Really disappointing. I wonder if people would rather spend money on all the DLC and/or map packs with MP games or something has and affect on whether or not they can afford to buy new titles.

I just heard it.

T'was weird. :)

Never played any Dead Space games, their is a Trilogy going around that I just found. (not sure if available in Australia or PS3 yet) still you can pick up 1 and 2 pretty cheap!

Is it worth getting? currently I'm playing the Mass Effect trilogy and enjoying it immensely, I know Dead space is a more linear game and is more Horror then Action, but having seen a few clips on youtube and above looks alright to me, Si-fi stories and games usually suck me in.

I originally turned away from dead space due to the Horror element in it. But having also played the resistance trilogy and enjoyed it I didn't think it was that bad, deads space looks similar in the Horror status from what i've seen or is it worse?

anyway thoughts...

Not a whole lot of comparison horror wise between Resistance and Dead Space. The 3rd is the scariest and most horror like, but still not overly scary at that.

Dead Space 1 & 2 are pure horror. I can't really talk much about 3 but the first two are fantastic. Although if you're not much into the scares then you'd want to maybe stay away as they will offer pants shitting moments. ;)

Well worth buying and playing, but they are definitely filled with scares.

I thought the demo was a mess, decided to pick it cheaply on the weekend, have played 2 hours or so and am enjoying it, much better than the demo and like where the story is going. Disapointing to hear that there won't be a DS4.

Tossing up between this and Tomb Raider for my next purchase. Played Dead Space 2 and absolutely loved it but have heard 3 is a bit of a let down.

Only because the first 2 set such high standards. The 3rd one is still a great game on its own, but just falls short of the first 2 as far as horror goes. It's slightly on the more 'action-y' side. The way the benches worked in DS3 were far better than the previous 2 IMO, you could get through the first 2 only using and upgrading the plasma cutter, not in this one. If you get DS3, take the time to learn the Benches, they're rewarding once you get used to it as they seem overwhelming at first.

If i were to rate them out of 10, i'd give DS1 10/10, DS2 9/10, DS3 8/10.

Cheers Ed_Gein. I loved the horror focus in Dead Space 2. Don't play many horror games but Dead Space 2 had me sitting up straight and playing at generally a higher heart rate as I expected scares along the way.

DS3 has a co op mode or something doesn't it? Does that kind of take away the scare factor knowing that you have a buddy there and are not alone?
