I'm already up to chapter 7 on the 2nd time through, trying to use a range of weapons and attain all the trophies.

The Line Gun is really effective, but ammo is too expensive.

After this time through it's onto trying to beat the game only with the Plasma Cutter.

The line gun is awesome. The 1st weapon I maxed out and the main one I used whilst on my 1st play through. Loved aiming at the necromorphs legs, firing off the line gun and seeing them lose their legs :D

Hey Viney,
Im up to last 2 chapters, must agree with you absolutely awesome game. The physics allow for some vary mission objectives which keeps the experience fresh.

Just wondering, do you get to carry over suit and upgrades for a 2nd playthrough? I am guess you do, otherwise you would never be able to fully upgrade weapons and equipment

Everything carries over; weapons, upgrades, items, money.

You get a level 6 suit upon upgrading your kit in full as I understand, maybe it happened when I finished the game but I don't recall.

Thanks TL, thats good news indeed.

Makes some of those difficult achievements much easier.

And as I say, if you have any remote interest in survival horror games then do yourself a favour and get this. It is excellent.

Speaking from the POV of the 360 version, when you complete the game you unlock the Military Suit (level 6 suit), get 50,000 credits and 10 power nodes.

As TL said, weapons etc. carry over for the second playthrough, but only if you play again on the same difficulty level.

The Military Suit is 99,000 credits and is available at the Store as soon as you start the 2nd playthrough.

Hedge, enjoy the last couple of chapters....they are amazing and easily the best part of the game :thumbsu:

Finished it off today, all ready and pumped for Gears of War 2 now!

Thats crap that items only carry over for the same difficulty. I had fully upgraded the Pulse Rifle and Plasma Cutter by the end of the game, but still gonna cost alot of credits to upgrade all weapons. But you should be able to get this on one more play through considering you wouldnt need to purchase any suits or weapons, just spend on power nodes.

Easiest way to get all achievements would be 2 play throughs on medium (possibly easy but not sure it if would unlock impossible mode) and then one play through on impossible. 3 play throughs is a lot for all achievements!

I played on Easy (I didn't want too much grief getting through it as I have so many unfinished games and so many more coming out in the next few weeks I'm going to buy) and Impossible Mode does unlock on easy.

I'd say minimum 3 playthroughs for all achievements, possibly 4 if you also take into account the One Gun achievement

I don't play for achievements though, I'll play this through multiple times just because it's so damn good.

Agree.....gears 2 tomorrow will be insane.

Wonder who the unlucky mo'fos to break the street date will be :p

Hey Viney thought you might be interested in this, its how to keep the military suit for impossible difficulty without starting from scratch

from www.x360a.org

Ok I can confirm this, it does work. I played the game a second time on easy with the military suit equiped, got to the last save point before the last boss and saved, I beat the boss and saw the ending and skipped the credits. Then the game kicked me straight to the main menu from there i went to impossible. If the glitch worked Issac should have the military suit equiped already. I read in other forums that the reason for saving on the last saved spot is incase the glitch doesnt work, so if it doesnt work reload that save and try again. Im just starting the game and it indeed works I have 4 life bars 30% armor 25 items slots and 70 seconds of air.

Hope this works willl make impossible much easier

i just chucked this game in before and played through the first chapter...

i HATED the player movement and control scheme to start off with but once i got the hang of it a bit more it wasn't too bad

the sound and atmosphere in this game is absolutely ridiculous...absolute top quality :thumbsu: (god i love having the surround cranked up)

quick question.....in the store do the prices for nodes etc rise as the game goes on??

from reading a few posts in here again it seems the line gun and the plasma cutter are pretty much the only guns worthwhile...and the plasma gun to me seems fine at this stage so might just use it for the whole game and use the credits for other items

Prices stay the same the whoe way through

The Plasma Cutter, Line Gun and the Pulse Rifle were the 3 I used most.

Agree, atmosphere in this game is top notch

Make sure you grab the pulse rifle as well as the cutter and line gun. It has a high capacity (when fully done) and fast firing rate. You need different weapons for different enemies, for example the rifle does crap all to the dudes stuck on the wall, you just waste ammo. You need the cutter or ripper

thanks for the info, i probs will end up buying only a couple of other weapons...but i still havn't actually started chapter 2 yet but plan to as soon as i'm not feeling so shit

Not yet Hedge, got Mirror's Edge, Gears 2, FarCry 2 and Call of Duty: WaW all still needing some serious attention :p

Haha thats my list as well. I do have Far Cry 2 but its hit the shelf for other games, il get back to it soon. Add to that GH WT and Fallout 3. Man there is so many good games. Left 4 Dead out tomorrow or thursday as well!!!

BTW if you are interested. I finished a 2nd play through of Dead Space and finished with the military suit on, then started a new game on impossible, and BAM!!! still have the suit on. I heard it can be pretty hard so it probably helps if you can save 99000 and also have the best suit from the start. No upgrades carry over though. I love the game but gonna give it a bit of a break, just went to the 1st save to make sure ive still got the suit.

You can buy them without having to use them (i.e. store them). If you're an achievement / trophy wh0re, then there are achievements / trophies for owning all weapons, storing "X" amount of items and spending "X" amount of credits - I personally don't go for 'chieves / trophies, but if you're so inclined worth knowing :thumbsu:

Tell me about it, L4D, R2, I'm picking up Fallout 3 soon, just too much gaming.

Yeah, def take that advice re the military suit, think I'll need all the help I can get on Impossible

Finished this game tonight. The end boss was a bit of a bore, but overall the game was pretty good. Hope they make a sequel.

Times to go and get gears 2 now i reckon.

I thought the final boss looked killer and there were some nice animations etc. with it, but it wasn't overly inspiring to fight

SPOLIER --> the only part I really liked about it was when you'd be hanging upside down trying to aim at it - that was cool

I'm sorry but how do you play this on PC? Mouse sensitivity is maxed out, V-Sync off and it still takes an age to turn around. Imagine how that'll be later on in hard combat.

EDIT:

I guess I was a bit hasty. It is quite fun but I'd like more than 1-2 types of aliens to attack.

You mean the "over the right shoulder" as seen in 90% of 3rd person shooters?

Not seeing it Kerbs

One thing i really like about it, is the fact all your vitals are displayed on your suit, eliminating the need for head up display.

Lets you really appreciate the look of the game.

Nice touch
