Dealing with Incomplete Data

I am looking to compile some information for an Association's 25th Season of the 21st Century (There was a Covid year in 2020)

The issue I am running into, is that Team Sheets for Finals were destroyed Pre-2016.

I am sure some clubs would have records of who played, but some wouldn't have kept a record, and a number of clubs are in recess.

I have all of the H&A games played, and everything from 2016 onwards.

My problem is if I put together Games played data, it is going to be incomplete.

I could go with H&A games played, but that just seems wrong in one regard.

Has anyone ran into anything similar, or have any suggestions of how I should proceed?

A comp in Tasmania.

The paperwork has been destroyed, hence the incomplete data.

And there is no way to get it back, hence the query about how others deal with gaps.

Ah I see... I haven't had to deal with that as of yet as I've only worked with AFL data and most of that is readily available, sorry I couldn't help.
