Dean Bailey

I think he meant; 'I very much doubt that', 'Bailey will be around for a while yet'.

No-one on here is bashing Bailey except The 'troll' Boss and Deefolt.

Deefolt you have no idea if youre not happy with Bailey at this point.

How about you post something of substance that gives weight to why you think Bailey is a good coach, instead of throwing around terms like 'troll' and saying Deefolt has no idea what he is talking about. It just makes you look stupid!

The only nice thing I can say about Bailey is that he is (barely) competent.

I never said that I wasn't happy but if there any thoughts about it within the club I would rather they sorted it out sooner rather than later.

For delibrately playing players out of their normal position in 2009 making MFC tank games for the sake of an extra draft pick. Having a scumbag coach that delibrately threw games is not going to temp me into forking over my hard-earned for a membership.

How about you post something of substance ....

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Dean: great motivator, great developer of players, smart, good communicator and speaker, great hands-on coach, focused, loyal, a leader and a great "galvanisor", and all-round a great choice.

The only question is whether they extend his contract by 2 years or 3.

Give examples of when he has demonstrated the above mentioned skills and characteristics.

I am particularly interested in why you think he is a 'great developer of players'.

He took the reigns in 2008 with the following players in their first year:
- Cale Morton: Not lived up to the expectaion of a number 4 pick.
- Jack Grimes: Showed some good signs but has injury problems, will be a good contributor if he stays healthy.
- Adam Maric: Looks likely to become a career VFL player unless he rapidly improves and can hold a position in the senior side
- Kyle Cheney: Couldn't break into the side, traded to Hawthorn
- Tom McNamara: 3 games in the 3 years, can't break into the side and redrafted as a rookie. Doubt he will make it at AFL level
- Stefan Martin: Might turn into a servicable second ruckman/tall defender but have not seen enough of him.
- Trent Zomer: Who?
- Austin Wonaemirri: Should be a good contributor if he stops chowing down the turtle soup and gets fit and healthy. I like Wonna though, I love his enthuisasm when he kicks a goal.
- Jake Spencer: Hasn't played enough games, but IMO currently MFC's best ruck prospect going forward. I'll make up my mind at the end of this year.
- Shane Valenti: Extremely talented VFL player

So when he started the head coaching role in 2008, only 2 out of those 9 first year players have become regular members of the 22. 3 are no longer at the club, and one is stuck on the rookie list. Yeah, I can really see he is a good developer of players

I think this year will be the true test for him. He has now had 3+ years to get a solid group together and some development into them, as well as a gameplan. He has some serious young talent at his disposal and has cleaned out the crap. Soft draw and high expectation coming from all angles. Will make or break him as a coach this year i reckon.

Mick Malthouse being available will put added pressure on his position as well. I'm sure Mick would love the talent we have at his disposal. I like Bailey, but not sure he has the matchday skills to get us to the ultimate goal. He's made the right calls as far as list management goes and going against The Boss, i reckon he's developed some of the kids nicely. The gameplan has been a worry, hopefully because he hasn't had the talent for it to take hold, and he's been outcoached on numerous occasions. So a lot to prove this year. If we are around the 8, he'll be safe, if we drop off this year, we may be tempted to offer Malthouse the position...

Jamar & Moloney just had career best years. Green, Frawley, Davey too. Sylvia looked like it.

They're the heart of your side now, and I think it'd be fair to say guys like Green & Davey & Jamar didn't look like being anywhere near it - as strong, consistent, leaders - 3 years ago.

It's not always 100% about kids.

Green was mentioned for a few years now so I wouldnt say that.

What a joke of a post.

Great motivator - Where's the proof.
Great developer of players - Losing Sean Wellman will be a massive blow.
Good speaker/communicator - If he took the word "competitive" out of his vocabulary, he'd be a mute.
Loyal - This takes the cake. What, he's had massive offers elsewhere? I'd be loyal too if someone was prepared to pay me $300k+ to do something that I'm crap at.
