Ah... I was merely curious as to what you thought was a ballpark trade...

Depends on how Seaby/Johnson/Beeck come along, how much demand there is for Cox, and how the coaching/recruiting staff rate the quality of this years draft.

WCE could ask for a top 10 pick, or not trade him at all.

thats what i reckon too.

We aren't going to trade away Cox without garunteeing we have suitable back up.

But if Seaby comes along and shows he can back up in the ruck, than it seems a waste for both player and club with Cox.

Cox is good enough to be first ruck and most clubs and it would be rather unfair on the club to sit him on the bench for 3 quarters and only give him a run when Gardiner gets tired.

But if it did come to a point where it would be better for player and club to part ways, I'd be dissapointed if we didn't get a top 10 pick for Cox.

But we are far from desperate to trade him - he's a very valuable player at our club.

I'd want to see Seaby play 2 or 3 games of AFL first before I'd consider trading Cox. Assuming that happens, Cox would be worth a mid to late first round pick.
With the current KPP dilemma at the Eagles, he'd be more likely to be swapped for an established KPP with some draft pick re-arranging as well.

i think that a cox trade could very well be up for grabs depending what was offered. as mentioned we've got a lot of rucks in the wings. personally i think that we may go will one of the younger ones.

probably a late first round pick or an experienced defender.

I reckon Cox is a required player and will not be traded.

Exactly.....we havent really gotten any proven ruckmen if Gardiner goes down and Cox is traded. Mcdoogal is a ruckmen of sorts isnt he... i thought he was more of a forward!

All depends on Seaby... if he gets a few games under his belt before the end of the season then yes, i see Cox getting traded. However, if Seaby isnt introduced, i cant see us letting him go as yet.... maybe another year

agree with most, would not trade Cox without the knowledge that Seaby is the real deal ....

but, REALISTIC trade value ... top ten ... don't think so ..... any Port fans (or Carlton) know what French went for? I think it was 18 .... me thinks ... he'd be worth around that ... early second round pick

having said that, if we can fleece someone, all the better!!

over and out

Carlton traded their 2nd round pick (which was 18) for French and Port's second round pick IIRC, which was in the low 30's IIRC.

French was in a similar situation to what Cox is in now, but Cox probably has slightly more trade value.

If he is going to be traded, it would almost certainly be to a vic club. Assuming things go as expected, they will finish bottom 8. Including concession picks, I cannot see Cox being worth a top10 pick on his own. A 2nd rd pick (#17-24) would indeed be more realistic.

I think Sux would still be a required player. After Gardy and Cox, there is daylight between the ruckmen at the club.

Beek is a possible ruck option for us too.

Now that's not a bad idea.

Hawthorn seem to be down on big men at the moment and when Everitt is injured, the Hawks dont have the same talent in the ruck. Sux would be useful at the club and in return we get Hay for a replacement for Macca.
