Believe he had an injury pre season and recently in an interview one of the coaching staff said he needed to work on his fitness.

I think we have been pretty spoilt with Batch, Reece and Helbig. Not too worried that Dean is playing 3rds. I think they are playing himon the wing to build up a tank, probably won't see him this year.

Anyone heard anything on Jakobi?

Dont hold out on us Tugg, give us a run down.
Nothing sinister.History shows, not all your draftees are going to make it.
Looks like Conca and Batch will be fine.Helbig has shown a little bit that he might make it.
Haven't heard big wraps about Dean frompeople I know, who are in the know. That doesnt mean he won't make it though.

Pretty baseless call, Tugg. The lament of Dean is a little ridiculous. He kicked 40+ goals last year playing as a forward flanker. His speed is immense and his attack on the footy very good. Field kicking could do with some work but his finishing in front of goal is special.

He has all the tools to make it at AFL level.

Poor old Relton must have gone right off the rails. He struggled to get a game for Wanderers in the season just gone and missed out on playing in their premiership win.

Can't help but feel we might have dropped the ball when it comes to the upstairs department with this one. Although maybe having already taken Conca and Batch we thought we were entitled to take a risk, I don't know. But we know FJ was confident of Conca becoming a very good player based on his character and work ethic. This has now led me to believe that players rarely, if ever, make it without these two qualities.

I do remember in that Preseason match him chasing down a Feralwood player and getting a free from it.

Sure he missed the goal but it was a reallll nice effort.

Also, how's the 'Hoff going in the 3rd's? Will he ever make it or will he go the way of most rookies?

I went to training just before the season started & also when these boys were first recruited.

Mentioned at the time that dean mcdonald is way way off being afl ready, he had very little fitness & i believe i mentioned that it would take atleast 18 months before he is anywhere near ready to play out a quater let alone a game,

They were doing laps with batchelor, helbig, dericx and dean after just 1 lap fell atleast 50-60 mtrs behind the other boys

Talented but fitness need a bucket load of work still.
