Why isn't the club being more honest about its financial position?

Do they feel embarrassed about going to the members? Is it Kochie trying to not tarnish his financial management image? Or does he think we are all little working class serfs with no money?

I know many members are doing it tough but if everyone pitched in a voluntary amount for a few years that went directly to getting rid of debt it would at least reduce the pressure associated with the debt interest.

It's time for the club to run an official debt demolition campaign so we can be independent of the creditors (AFL House).

:whitecheck: INDEPENDENCE FROM SANFL
:whitecheck: LEAVE FOOTBALL PARK
:whitecheck: REUNIFY CLUB
:circle: REMOVE DEBT TO AFL HOUSE

I'd prefer to fork out extra money now instead of being an also ran for decades to come.

The administrators need to swallow their pride and go to the fans to "Demolish the Debt" like Richmond (Save our Skins) and the Western Bulldogs (Bulldoze the Debt) which were both successful.

The best time to start was yesterday. The next best time to start is today.

It's a big debt, we'd need 50k+ people giving $200 each.

We are one of about 7 clubs who have a big debt. But we are servicing the debt ok regardless of what people think. Yes were not a rich club but with a new coach next year and new enthusiasm membership will climb in the next couple of years we will be ok

The greatest asset of any club is its members & supporters. The entire board knew very well that only a small fraction of the supporter base would be pleased by the appointment of Co-Captains. Their response, a cocky attitude of we know better & a big fat middle finger to the everyday supporter.

Now there almost begging with cap in hand for the fans to not walk away, even though they know they have completely ****ed up on multiple fronts:

1) extending Ken’s contract...who by far is the most defeatist minded coach the club has ever had.
2) Co-Captains...the word disaster barely does it justice
3) trading in the wrong players & offering them good coin for very little return.
4) continually trying to force feed supporters to swallow the progressive BS that making the community proud is more important then winning games of footy.

This club has no ruthless edge to it at all. If you want to start winning back the supporters then start acting like the club I fell in love with as a kid, because the current version is unrecognisable.

Agree, it's not a one year job. It should've been started in 2014.

Things were looking really promising in 2014. Things went south after giving Hinkley his contract extension on massive money.

Cant afford to pay our players, hampering our chances of success but we can pay this clown mega dollars.

We are in serious serious trouble.

Why isn't the club being more honest about its financial position?

Do they feel embarrassed about going to the members? Is it Kochie trying to not tarnish his financial management image?

Koch is embarrassed. I asked 6 questions about financials at the 2012 AGM, and the concise annual report handed out at the next AGM became a minimal 3 page hand out of Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and the Cash Flow Statement.

I have previously paid ASIC $19 for the privilege or maybe it was $38 earlier year the Wookie paid to get the full set of 2018 financials.

Koch has said several times at the start of his speeches at functions I have attended that he is a professional bullshitter. He told us at the last AGM, that he wasn't bullshiting us, which was crap.

Things went south after giving Hinkley his contract extension on massive money.

• $700,000+ per year to a head coach who hangs his hat on the same fleeting highwater mark achieved by Danny Frawley, Chris Connolly and Simon Goodwin.

• An international investment strategy with no monetisation plan.

• An incoherent list management strategy that claims to be predicated on youth but wastes games on futureless veterans.

What could go wrong?!

This is costing a bit.

It's not costing us anything because no one is stumping up any monies for it and we don't have the funds.

KT can resign as CEO of Port Adelaide Football Club and go and become the CEO of the Power Community Limited corporation and go and raise the funds needed to build it if he thinks its that important.

Jesus. I don't want to think about how much we're paying this guy to play, pause, fast-forward, and rewind game tape for his dad in review sessions.

Further, until he's off the payroll, I don't see any compelling reason to give the club money beyond what I spend on membership and (occasionally, and ill-advisedly) merchandise.

Nothing against the guy personally - I'm sure he's got pushing the buttons on that Betamax player down to a fine art - but the optics are terrible.

But also, do we really ******* believe the afl couldn’t/shouldn’t pay off that debt. The salary cap is over 10 million per club, and how many millions are going to GC?

It’s just a way of keeping the powerful clubs powerful, and the small clubs small.

Of course. They don't want a repeat of the 2001-2006 period where non Victorian clubs won premierships only
