that Kruezer cup sure destroyed all the 3 teams involved. Including Richmond and Melbourne

#winningculture
Lol - the cup for a player that happened so long ago they're now retired?

Losing cultures ruined decades for those clubs.

They CHANGED their culture from then. You want us to be what they were when they were losers.

I love when people start talking about the process as the secret to success.

“Stick to the process and you will get the results.”

No. You probably won’t get THE results, but you will get results of some kind
One of many overused sporting cliches.

Everyone has a process, most clubs have good processes.

Melbourne making good use of their Amazon prime account, got their new winning culture on express 2 year delivery. Even took their old one away ;)

as for Richmond…

Took them the best part of 10 years to get all the pieces in the right spots.

ps did you know Alex Rance was a priority pick from that same draft. Getting Trent cotchin and Alex Rance (priority) didn’t bleach them all of good cultures for that long

not many other clubs have won premierships in that intervening period.

Whatever the recipe for success ultimately is, it doesn’t hurt to start with top shelf ingredients. Melbourne’s best players in the GF included Pick 2 (Petracca) Pick 3 (Brayshaw) another Pick 3 (Jackson) Pick 4 (Oliver) and Pick 9 (Salem).
Outside of Jackson, it also took the rest of those players until their 4th or 5th seasons to really start delivering on their high draft positions. People were calling for Petracca and Oliver to be traded at one stage. That’s why people on here need some patience with the rebuild and to not lose their s**t and call players spuds if they’re playing some poor games in their 1/2/3 years.

Dusty almost traded when he was a high potential but troubled player. He stays and three Norm Smiths and Premierships later…

Both Hardwick and Goodwin with question marks on their heads going into their premiership year…

So many variables. The key is working all this out without hindsight (and ignoring the media)! *ingg Richmond keeping their claws in Balme. At least we seem to be trending in the right position, but still some way to go getting off-field and on-field right.

They both sorted their issues at board level instead if letting them fester

It's a pity for Melbourne that they finished 17th in 2019 and destroyed their culture.

Yep.. that was blatant and utter tanking that year no two ways about it..

They finished 5th in 2018 and were a side on the up… in 2019 as soon as it was clear they werent a chance they layed down and went for the draft pick.

And because of it they were able to add Luke Jackson who played a big part in helping get them to a GF and winning it.. that lad is a gun.

So good that he got to witness that.. what a legendary bloke and an inspiration to all..

Pity he couldnt be there in amongst it last night, but ohwell, he’ll be the first person there to greet them when they get back to melbourne.

Reacon Petracca might give him his Norm smith to wear…

Noticed that Petracca actually took it off as soon as he got it and gave it to someone else to hold onto.. he didnt wear anything but the same premiership medal as the rest of the players for the rest of the broadcast celebrations that I saw last night..

Petrecca asked in the press conference

"where does the belief come from to turn things around like the team did in the 3rd qtr"

His response

"It's the work that we have done with Burgess, we know we are the fittest club in the comp"
