Unlikely to happen. Only posturing and blowing in the wind to get a better deal when the renegotiation takes place at end of year or early next year. It has been reported Melbourne are losing 100K per month. They make 250K from the Brisbane game. What other options have they got to make easy money.Originally posted by Mr Ripper

Doesn't really appear to be bothering the players...

Melbourne president Paul Gardner said that while the venture had undoubtedly been a financial success for the club since it began in 2000, he questioned whether it would continue to benefit the Demons.
"If Melbourne keep playing well this year, next year you would have to say it would be questionable because we could probably pull that crowd back in Melbourne," he said.
Gardner said the former board had entered into the contract for the "right reasons" but there could be other options for the club.
"Now because Brisbane has become a power it might have been a smart move for us to have played on a neutral ground and get Melbourne versus Port (Adelaide) which we get stuck with on Mother's Day."
The Demons president said his club had failed to make the same impact in Brisbane as Hawthorn had achieved in Tasmania.
probably next year that wouldnt be the case but we will still do it coz im pretty sure u pay us or somethingOriginally posted by melbournemartin

Amazing comments.
So they agreed to play "home" games away in Brisbane based on the assumption that they would be crap and therefore wouldn't draw a decent crowd in Melbourne.
So the reasons were "right" for as long as they were crap but are now "wrong " because after 9 rounds this season they are going OK.

And golly....what a surprise it must have been to President Gardner that his club didn't make the same "impact" as Hawthorn has made in Tasmania.
Hello Mr Gardner!!!
In case it's escaped your attention, Brisbane has had its OWN AFL side in the comp for a while now, 20000 plus members for years (now 30000 plus), a triple-bunger Premiership, which, amazingly enough, hasn't seen much of it's loyal supporter base feel any compunction to defect to the Dees just because they consent to play their rightful home game on our turf once a year!
Bit different to Hawthorn playing a game or two in at a neutral venue that's only a few spits accross Bass Strait.
If anyone in the Lions administration falls for this load of claptrap, I'll turn my membership card in.
