Review Dees v Suns: Good, Bad and Downright Fugly

Only getting to catch up on reactions to the game now as I went out afterwards, but lol. An incredible amount of melting from opposition supporters that obviously watched the last five minutes of the game and weren't privy to the numerous goals kicked by GC directly due to horrendous umpiring in the first three quarters.

The whinging about the Chol non-free is equally funny. Literally three seconds later in the same passage of play they had a shot at goal from 15-20 metres closer, directly in front. Guess the umpires made him miss, too.
I like the whinging about the Gawn free kick infront of goal from an off the ball incident. The umpires saw something but because it wasn't shown it's like some conspiracy to get Melbourne over the line. Had it happen in the first quarter nobody would be saying anything.

The 10: Round eight's best moments

Can't remember whose conspiracy the lack of Melbourne entries in the top-10 was, but Chandler's in at 6 this week, and the end of the game is at 3. No Petracca goal is stiff though

Just watched the replay

  • Gawn and Grundy worked very well together. Max's marking was awesome, but they got in each other's way a little bit up forward.
  • Viney was heart and soul. Putting together a really good month or so. Some of his scrapping at ground level was immense.
  • Loved JVRs game, given the patchy delivery. Nearly brought down 3 big pack marks and competed in the air very well. Got outmarked by Ballard a few times (who is a great interceptor) but never dropped his head.
  • Trac and Clarry both had their moments. Seems like we are rotating them more heavily this year to keep them fresh for Q4. Definitely working for us.
  • Disco showed some signs. Got beat 1v1 by Casboult a few times but still goes for his marks and is a nice kick. Has the same gait as Lever.
  • Sparrow's form is building nicely. Finding ways to get involved and actually laying some tackles
  • Harmes is a good sub
  • McVee is bloody clever player. Has that awareness where he doesn't get caught. Few smart little knock ons that saved us.
  • Rivers was dynamic
