Review Dees v Western Bulldogs - the Good, Bad & Fugly - Round 19, 2021

In terms of good it was nice to see Viney find some touch and Brown did eventually build into the game. Oliver superb as well. Lever and Petty were good too I though but Hibberd had a poor game and exposed them.

Cbf doing a recap of that game.

But to be in the position of now having to win 3 of our next 4 to secure a top four spot, and how unlikely that is now looking, is just so dees. 9-0 start to the season and wins against the best in the comp, and we’ve fallen into a mid-late season slump where we’ll now likely miss our chance at a genuine crack at a flag.

Bring on the last few weeks, but feeling pretty apathetic about it all now.

Can't blame the umpires for all those first quarter misses, and the atrocious forward 50 entries the next 3 quarters.

Hopefully these blokes just got a reminder they aren't entitled, and haven't earned anything yet

We will still finish second though.
We won't finish 2nd. We'd have to win all 4 games and that in no way is happening. Will be lucky to win 2 based on our form. I think we finish 5th. Bombers will spank us 1st week of finals. Still make end of ski season..

We lost to a good team, it happens.

It's where we pissed 2 wins down the toilet against Crows and Hawks that makes this situation seem worse.
Yep. I don’t really feel that angry about this game in isolation but it hurts when we’ve pissed away premiership points against the cellar dwellers.

Commiserations. You guys got absolutely torn a new one by the umps. Disgraceful.
Meh, we have a penchant for self harm, we chose death by a thousand cuts and are always our own worst enemy. Umps could have flipped the free kick count and we'd still find a way to lose.

Josh Schache > May and Lever . Good stuff. 👍

Full MFC, we are guaranteed to play finals and, spent most of the season 1 or 2 on the ladder and this is still one of the disappointing seasons as a Dees supporter.

Only our club could do this. Pure wizardry!

Oliver was good. Viney second half was good. Not much else

Goody needs to roll the dice and play Bowey, we are too similar all over the field , desperately need a point of difference right now. Give him a run at it before finals start and see what he can do.

Thought it was a real lacklustre performance.

They had 1 down in the last Q and their best backman down for the entire game and our forwards didn't capitalise/we didn't overrun them in the last. Koz provided a real spark but that was about it.

Hunt about the only spring from half back we had all night and even then hes a limited player.

Both our wings were completely killed. Langdon has gone to shite since the concussion and Brayshaw had zero influence.

Loved Gawn's ruck performance. More of that. Set out to bully English and did so with ease.

Libba killed us all night.

Ugly

Our ball use. We squandered so many defensive breaks and entries inside 50. From half back on the rebound or kicks inside 50.

We look like we are drilled to kick it to the pack, putting it on the heads of our talls and hope we score from crumb. Daniel killed us there. You need to be able to set up and hit leading lanes Occassionally.

Yep. We are desperately in need of a player with skills and composure.
Completely agree mate, especially with a bunch of honest veterans like Jetta/Jones/Vanders who could easily play a role for a week or two.
I reckon we’ve missed the boat on this, in hindsight, playing those types against the s**t sides might’ve been a goer. In typical MFC style we probably can’t do it now with the season on the line.

James Harmes is a poor footballer
