Tex plays better when he doesn't concern himself with being aggressive I would rather an aggressive tex who plays well and may cop a game or two than one who holds back

You'd think a captain and senior player would be able to ignore all the crap during the week, but somehow I see him reported by half time. He could probably use a break anyway.

He needs to play on the edge if he gets reported so be it, but you will find he plays far better

Picking key forwards in the first round can be a bit crapshoot. Look at

Tom Boyd
Jesse Hogan
Jack Watts
Todd Marshall
Patty McCartin
John Butcher


I think some of the Key Forwards taken later work harder once drafted than those who were naturally big/gifted at underage level. Because they had to work a bit harder at underage level to get drafted.

A big kid who knows how to use his size and strength always stands out ahead of the more "awkward" kids getting used to their size and how to use it.

I expect us to play the angriest mongrellest football we have ever played this year. JJ and Gibbs to bulldoze their opponents and be handy players.

If Lynch is fully fit, his inclusion will be a link-up boost. This is a serious trial for JJ and a chance to do his talking and express his frustration at being dropped on the field, not on air. Gibbs, who knows which Gibbs will turn up today? He's got to be on notice too.
Will the Crows get up by 4 or 5 goals again, assume they've got the game won and fade?
Melbourne are not the WCE and will get demoralised if they are down.

I really want us to belt this mob today, but I'll take a win of any margin, even if it's a scrappy, dour slog.

Goal-kicking cost us the game vs Brisbane.
Last week, Talia brought them back to within 3 goals, Jones was ineffective, EH burned out (ineffective), Tex given Mission Impossible ie guard their loose man while being guarded, then Gaff and Shuey ran amok with no-one picking them up or trying to tag them which is on the Coaches. Meh. Either way, we still lost and burned that 33-point lead which a Top-4 side would never do.

At home... We had every advantage possible and got rolled in the second half.

That is not a game to gain any optimism from. We're not an up and coming contender, we're the old man who still believes he has it in him. That was humbling.

I've tried to stay positive, but I kind of agree with you.

Of the 6 oldest teams, Collingwood/West Coast/Geelong and the Giants are definite contenders. Us and Hawthorn are at the crossroads.

Demons did well against West Coast in Perth . They get 3 very important players back and two whom are running players . Their run will really worry us . If our tall can’t kick a bag we will lose this .

What we need to see today to win:
1. ROB to hold his own in the ruck
2. Midfield to be accountable and get their positioning right at stoppage.
3. Walker and Jenkins to to turn up. Jenkins to play with some intensity and Walker to go for some marks with both hands.
4. Talia, Hartigan, Kelly to know their kicking limitations and go long instead of taking risky kicks.
5. Take our opportunities when kicking for goal.
6. Not go missing for one of the quarters.

Melbourne are desperate for a win. We need to be more desperate.

This is a game we need to win. Lose today and finals unlikely and time to start playing the future. Feel it's time to start rewarding inform kids regardless after this tough stretch.
