Game Day Dees vs Crows

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

What we need to see today to win:
1. ROB to hold his own in the ruck
2. Midfield to be accountable and get their positioning right at stoppage.
3. Walker and Jenkins to to turn up. Jenkins to play with some intensity and Walker to go for some marks with both hands.
4. Talia, Hartigan, Kelly to know their kicking limitations and go long instead of taking risky kicks.
5. Take our opportunities when kicking for goal.
6. Not go missing for one of the quarters.

Melbourne are desperate for a win. We need to be more desperate.

This is a game we need to win. Lose today and finals unlikely and time to start playing the future. Feel it's time to start rewarding inform kids regardless after this tough stretch.
What does Google say Max?

Last year it was the Jake Lever show!!......the commentators made the most of it and the Crows were humiliated......I hope tonight we return the favour!

Don't know. How good will Mrouch be?

He'll be bloody good though

Milera and Crouch could become elite or they may not either

They will be subjected to more as time goes on

Tagging will be the next thing they will need to deal with, if the oppo coach sees the as a major threat

That is what makes you elite when you are targeted like Danger, Dusty, Pendles , Selwood , Gray ,Sloane

Too early to tell, Milera may only get to Johncocks standard which was good , or could become like A Macleod which was elite

But Johncock wasn't going to be one of your superstars

I don't mind both Crouches I think they could be very very good they both could become a Cotchin standard

Brad is probably at a Taylor Adams level ATM. Needs to improve his decision making and his defensive action.

Matt has dropped away since 2017 - he's down in almost every stat category. Think he was reliant on a dominant Jacobs.

We are missing Matty from the midfield. Brad seems lost without his little brother.
But otherwise a full squad and the luxury of 2 travelling emergencies this is as good as we can produce as far as raw talent goes. But too many players are down on form. Most are part of the leadership group.

What’s up with Gibbs? When did this talented professional turn into a sulking rookie? Something’s not right.

Jenkins wouldn’t want to put in a stinker today. I think that would be it for him. The Berg is only out because of his form, not because Jenkins is preferred.

Although debatable, our captain cost us a goal last week. His undisciplined acts are starting to mount up. Tex is losing concentration in the contest. Seems to be too keen to throw his weight around. He just needs to get the ball and forget his opponent. He is still one of the most talented forwards going.

Tahlia......his game last week was one for the books, not in a good way. That pass to set up an Eagles comeback was diabolical. From there he lost the plot.

Betts........still trying to take MOY. But instead takes himself out of the contest.
Why Eddie? You are still the most dangerous at panicking defenders in the league? Don’t do their job for them.

Several others are going ok but except for our second quarter last week their efforts have been down on previous seasons.

Our Achilles at the moment is form and a slow midfield not sure we can fix the latter this season. But we can deal with it if form picks up.

Over all I think a good belting is in order for Melbourne tonight. Sometimes it just takes one good game for everything to turn around.

We have a strong 22 “on paper” but will we play like a strong team. Many of our better players have had a huge gap betwen their best and worst performances this year. IMHO our only consistent players have been Keath, Sloane, Brouch and CEY.

Hopefully the players who struggled with form and injury at the start of the season (Talia, Brown, Smith, Laird, Milera, Seedsman, Gibbs, Greenwood, Lynch, Jenkins and Betts) will be close to their best today.

Then there is the group that vary between good matches and shockers (Hartigan, Kelly, Atkins and Walker).

Finally the KIDS who are still learning the trade. (Rob, Gallucci and Murphy)need to contribute although ROB and Murphy have been pretty good.

We are currently a 6th to 12th team. Will we make a charge towards the top six or slump back down to where we ended last year. Today will go a long way towards providing the answer.

So any noise about late outs?

I've heard we have two under a cloud.

Thank FSM

Actual discussion about the game

We did take over two experienced guys instead of the usual traveling rookie

Yesterday I heard Lynch and Smithers were a bit touch-and-go

Glory be. Lynch could be a late out and we still dont want Fog?

Masterstroke.

Not JJ?

It seems odd to take players under a cloud up, surely you just give then the weekend off.

It's an away game, I'd rather not have Fog benched for the week if Lynch does come up.

This is where experienced depth is valuable.

There’s been a lot to like about our last 6 weeks. Form has been good in the context of trying to implement a new game plan.

Last 2 weeks have been high quality opponents, a 1 and 12 point loss disappointing but, means we are around the mark at the top end.

Based on form I feel comfortable we get the points tonight.

My worry is the midfield- who can be all at once beasts around the contest and a bunch of lazy one way runners.

If they bring the same effort as they did after half time last week, make no mistake Melbourne’s mids will flog us and make us pay
