Go dogs :thumbsu:

How did Ward and O'keefe go ?
Honestly mate, get a clue.

I'm not going to go on your board and ask how Bode, Weetra and Cheney went now am I?

How, and more importantly why, would we know?

Second that, always great reports from the game!

2. - Our senior players need ALOT more game time. They can't run out games yet (Neitz, McLean) or look waaaaaaaaay out of form (Robbo).

We can only go up from here.

Maybe robbo is spending to much time "training" for it takes two?

Because we're football fans and pay attention to other teams maybe?

So you know who Ward and O'Keefe are do you? And you'd pay particular attention to both of them in a game in which you've gone to check out our youngsters and report back to this board about? (as SuperMerc did).

Not to mention, there have been a handful of posts already in this thread asking Dog fans not to come on here and blindly ask for info. about their players because our correspondants at the game weren't going to waste their time doing so.

What he said, and its even worse to do during the NAB Cup. With no record it's hard to notice players you don't already know. Most times I won't notice another player unless they stuff up or are getting alot of the pill.

Time for the second half of my little review.

Negatives:
-Barely any marks inside 50. The forward line structure was terrible. Neitz and Robertson had no space to work with. There was always a backup ruckman down there wasting space since Newton was injured and Weetra, for some reason, was being played at full forward at some stages.
-McLean barely got into the match but it was his first hitout so I can accuse him.
-Stupid free kicks are being given away in defence. I know that the umpires weren't our friend for much of the game and the Dogs got most of their goals from free kicks/50 metre penalties but we did make it too easy for the umpires to penalise us. Falling on top of an opponent's back won't help us get the ball out of defence.
-Bate still looks lost whenever he is in the middle. Keep him at half forward.

Speak for yourself, I'm an MFC fan and couldn't give a **** about any other team :D

Thanks for the updates last night, boys, particularly you, mercs. Although it's only preseason, it's good to know how the boys did (and from something other than the media which usually gets it wrong).

Back-up ruckmen NEVER work when they are sent forward. I still can't understand why we persist with this. I still get cold shivers when I think about seeing Mark Jamar leave a huddle and head for the goal square...

The big Russian takes a massive screamer once every dozen games and that seemed enough for Danners to give him half a game up forward every week.

He's deadly if you can get the ball directly above his head so he doesn't have to in any way move at all. So yeah he's good for one in every 30 kicks that goes his way. We really should've shipped him of to some desperate team for a pick back when he looked like he had potential.

He can't play forward but lets give him a chance because his ruck work has looked good this year and in 06 there was a feeling that if he improves around the ground he would have enough of a game to be a backup ruckman. If you were being generous you could almost discount all of last year for him as he was injured through the preseason and he does look fitter and more agile this year. I'm confident he can break even at centre bounces (more so the White, Johnson and Meesen) so if he can just improve around the ground he might make it. I get the feeling Jamar and Miller are two that Bailey sees as required players and may have put a lot of time into.

Hence why he had to leave.

We may as well play a third tall like Garland down there who can actually play in the position.
