As a side note David Hale has given poor old Troy Davis a spanking tonight. Crashing back to Earth with a thud.

Im not watching any more, no point.

Dunno what to take out of the game, think i'll just forget about it and not make too many judgements about it until Round 1 starts.

Best way to look at it! If this happens during the season then we can be worried...

Good reminder about how far we have to go. Very dissapointing.

It's ok boys, look at it from a broad perspective - 2 weeks ago if we were offered 1 win out of 2 in the preseason against Collingwood and Hawthorn, we would've taken it.

We got caught chasing the man a lot tonight - we didn't zone well or press them through the middle at all.

And we seemed to lose any form of structure when bringing the ball out of defense. Hopefully a Grimes or Strauss will help with that first kick out of the backline - I don't mind long kicks into the forward 50, but kicking to packs on the wing didn't work tonight.

Right on the money. The wheel always turns full circle. Our day against these morons is coming.

Clark was a positive really good recruitment and watts was better

Clark was excellent. Crashed the packs, had a presence.

Your problem was getting hold of the ball and hanging onto it.

As an outside though, Aaron Davey. If he's not injured he was woeful. His 'chase' late in the game was pathetic.

Good luck for the season.

Poor performance today. Im not going to get carried away with it though. Still seem to be learning the new game plan. Also Hawks I believe will win the flag, have thought so for a while.
Clark was good today and will be a fine recruit. Expect a lot from him this year and think he will live up to the price tag.
Watts improved on recent games and had little opportunity in the 2nd half. Let's hope for further improvement.
Forward line needs some work. Can't have 3 talls flying every time. Opposition get it out too easy.
Didn't get our hand on the ball enough and when we did too often
Turned it over.
Anyway let's see how we go
Next week.

Well beaten

a few positives

lots of negatives

Neeld would have learn't quite a lot about our ability against quality opposition

IMO Early days

Positives: -I saw Jimmy in the race at half time. He looked ok and had the MFC gear on.
-Josh Tynan looked like a boy playing against men tonight, but he goes where angels fear to tread. Will be a player.
-Mitch Clark, we get him enough footy and he will get the job done.
-Hawthorn, they are the team to beat.
-Troy Davis got a lesson from Hale but kept his chin up and still tried to run and create.

Negatives: -I'll ignore the obvious ones. I stood behind the players that didn't play tonight. The way Blease and Gysberts laughed, joked and carried on while their mates were getting smashed made me sick.
-I hope Aaron Davey is injured. He is either extremely low on confidence or has absolutely nothing left to offer us going forward.
-We fumbled something shocking tonight. Chip Frawley made some unforgivable handling errors that gave Hawthorn goals early and got them on a role. I put this down to the Hawthorn pressure. They were very good.

NAB Cup. That'll do. Moving on.

As someone mentioned before I think had someone said we could have 1 win out of the two then we would have jumped on it. Hawthorn were classy and brutal in the way they finished us off today and it's clear that they are the team to beat. Their pressure forced us to fumble and when the ball hit the deck, especially up forward, they swarmed back in numbers to gather the ball and race it up the other end.

I think Neeld would have taken plenty from this game and he can start to truly form an idea for his best 22 for Round 1. Special mention to Josh Tynan as well - if I had a choice between Bennell and Tynan in a back pocket for round one I know who I'd be choosing.

Port Adelaide in Adelaide awaits next week. Hopefully we can turn it around and take some momentum into round one. We'll need it because Brisbane beat Carlton by 64 points tonight.

While I am more than happy to sink the boots in to those Visy pricks they were missing half a side. Like all results I wouldn't read much in to the NAB Cup.

We were always destined to do some travelling next week but it could have been far worse than Adelaide. At least we will play on a proper ground where we can have a real crack. Interested to see how serious Neeld goes with the line up or if he decides to rest a few again.

Funny, I had the exact same thoughts, I wasn't happy when he didn't go hard enough at whitecross after he fumbled and let him wheel around and go i50, I know who I'd be picking aswell (pretty sure he has a nice looking bruise on the face to go with it too) haha

I'm 100% behind you on that one...

Bail seemed to be off the boil today, which really surprised me & Rivers came on & was very solid...

NAB Cup means extremely little, any loss like that is a bad loss but nothing to panic about. Why does Davey have so much hate? I thought he chased all night and did OK in a team that had very few and poor quality F50 entries. His finishing was very bad but he showed effort. Pretty damn hard to play FP in a team like that. Clark was excellent though, with better delivery he'll kick 45+ easily (I just hope we don't get tunnel vision looking for him too much). EDIT - Rivers was OK but I really hope we go with Frawley/Sellar/Garland in round one, no room in team for Garland AND Rivers and I'd rather the guy who can't do anything aside from be good in the air. I am also sorry for no paragraphs my enter key is broken T_T .

And he wasn't the only one - we seemed to have quite a few who were either off the boil today or clearly rusty and under done from injuries (Trengove and McKenzie in particular). Still 3 weeks to go before Round 1, plenty of time to be up and about.

My summary of the Casey game might in a small way explain why they are feeling pretty good about themselves getting a game next week or maybe they are just human & are young blokes just relaxing after a hard game that they played earlier today...

Does anyone know how long we could be looking at for Magner's finger injury?

No idea but someone earlier in the thread mentioned that it was a compound fracture of the finger. I actually think we really, really missed his presence and sure hands around the packs today.
