I think there's still a chance they move him but it's required us to basically lose every game from here. We play the eagles at marvel so you'd think that unfortunately won't happen.
I reckon they keep him on next year regardless.

It’s weird but the players when interviewed seem to sound like they are genuinely defending him (not doing the political thing of saying the usual “he has our full support” stuff). So I’m bracing for another year of the same

He really needs to play everything 100% right these days, because he’s very slow and can’t correct a mistake.
Yeah he's just not the same player, I think there was a situation where he could have intercepted but he hesitated but he waited and the eventually ended up htb. He's becoming so unreliable.

I don't want to be completely negative so I'll leave that there. I enjoyed the win despite it being a sugar hit. I mainly enjoyed it due to the fact I sat near the north melbourne cheer squad and some of the north supporters were acting like flogs whingeing at every free kick. One supporter was a flog from the start. I get it when you're team has been bottom 4 for 5 years and starting to show good signs you can get pretty raucous. Would imagine we melbourne supporters were the same 10 years ago. I get it to a certain extent but there was definitely a level of flogginess that was way over the top. First half was a bit meh but the second half was great watch particularly the last. Thought we were OK in the second but gave away momentum with shit kicking. Better game from Jefferson but needs to take his chances. Tholstrop didn't add much and not sure why we are wasting Windsor as sub.

Just got back from being #ATG so might change this after watching the replay...

Good: Finally just saw a couple of moments from the likes of Jeffo, Kolt, Trac and Fritsch (the later two I've been hard on this year). They didn't have 'good games' by any stretch, but all had just a moment or two we they actually showed something for a change. (In saying that, not totally sold on all of them still)

Bad: We were at our most dangerous when we got the ball in quickly today, so was really frustrating watching lots of stagnant play and not a lot of leading for most of the first 3 quarters.

Ugly: You can't tell me Xerri wasn't concussed last week. He was all over the shop today. He wacked blokes high 3-4 times, and at one stage was meant to throw the ball to the ump and threw it about 30m the wrong direction to a Dees players. He was absolutely not mentally with it today.

Dunno about Lever. Tom McDonald looked done. Twice. Then he surprised me. Hope Lever can get some time injury clear and get some form. There is a place for slower players still in this game, but they have to get the most out of their skill set to overcome the limitations.

Yeah North supporters at games are weird.

Interesting point about Xerri. Perhaps he lied about being concussed because he wanted to match up against Gawn again. Seems a very competitive sort.

Good

Lowkey Fritta played probably his best game in a few years today. Great signs if he can keep that up.

Langford. Clearly top 2 in the Rising Star. Unbelievable talent. Star in the making.

Tmac continues to impress. Unlucky to get dropped in the first place but I'd have him ahead of Lever tbh. Just solid most weeks.

Gawn smashing Xerri was fantastic. Not his best game, but just had Xerri's measure all day and then tore him apart in the last. Still the premier rick in the comp and looking possible for the 8xAA which is incredible.

Trac's 2nd half. That's more like it. Showed some toughness and drive. More of that please.

Melk. Freak. Would love him as our forward coach tbh. Our most dangerous forward at 33.

Jefferson. It's a baby step good. Still poor in overall disposal etc, but he at least showed some competing today. I liked his endeavour. Hit packs and chased, got on the end of a few and was unlucky not to have 2 maybe 3 goals. JVR possibly in the same boat. Maybe turned a corner? Not completely writing the combo off yet, but some ok signs today. It was against arguably the worst defence in the comp though. Let's see how they against Weitering next week lol

Bad

Tholstrup. Doesn't look like a player at all. Needs a stretch at Casey in the guts. Get him going as a mid and see what he's got. He's not forward material. He's got energy, but it's not relating to tackles or even pressure.

Lindsay. Has been ordinary for a stretch now. I wonder if he needs to go back to Casey as well? Not sure, but either way he's had an ordinary month or so after a promising start.

Lever. Just not enjoying what he brings atm. Sooked it up after getting dropped, but tbh Tmac and Turner are playing much better than him right now. No doubt Tmac will get dropped when May comes back in but it should be this bloke imo.

Ugly

Sparrow's incident. Big fella will get a few weeks no doubt and Sparrow seems ok, but the way he went down straight away was concerning. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a few weeks off.

North were rubbish particularly after qtr time but:

Good:
Fritschs best game in ages, even gave a couple off
Langford was clever in tight & used it well when he had time & space
Melksham
TMac was great in defense. Not the future obviously but didn't deserve to be out in the first place
JVR & Jeffo both provided a contest, neither great but a step forward

Bad:
Tholstrup just doesn't do the basics well enough, drops marks and fumbles too often. I want to like him.
Lever continues to be slow, shite & unacountable
Trac had good moments but continues to butcher it by foot too often

Fugly:
Sparrows KO, didn't see him move at all so I'm glad he's apparently ok

I feel for X lindsay.
I havnt felt confident watching him since the start of the year.
I understand he didn't the best impact pr most possessions today thus leading to him getting Subbed off.
I just hope his confidence doesn't waver.
I saw Lindsay looking really down and Oliver of all people with his arm around Lindsay and trying to lift him.

I wouldn't be completely surprised if he ended up with an injury or even concussion from the game. Watched the replay last night after being at the game thinking he copped a few hits, and yeah he really copped it in the first half, got hit high by Xerri at one stage too. Kid got absolutely punished. Tough day for him in that way.

Interesting idea about the concussed thing.

However, another idea - backed up by past performance - is that he is a talented player with a lot of strength, and frequently “clumsy” in his play. With or without a head knock the week prior.

And the idea of lying about being concussed is possible - the idea that he might get away with it is casts a big black cloud on any medical professional who examined him.

This is more like the right take. One of my close mates is a mad Kangas fan and we go to the pub to watch them regularly. So I've watched enough of Xerri the last few years. Definitely is a big bulky bloke who uses his size to his advantage. And like big lumbering blokes can be clumsy at times. He's actually been lucky not to collect someone this way a few times this year from games I've seen. Clearly an accident but he does throw his arms and shoulders around recklessly at times to create space for his mids, but he can be clumsy at times. Looked like a quick reaction where he was meant to hit Sparrow around the chest but hit him high. It happens. 3 week spell to think about it.

He reminds me of Mumford and his "clumsiness". A suspension might help him realign how he throws his arms around.

Really liked JVR's game today. Hope he can start kicking some bags soon.
He was definitely leading at the ball more which is exactly what he needs to do.
Not the greatest judge of the ball yet, but with experience I'm hoping he'll click.

His first year his marking and ability to break a pack was great. Just need him to treat goal kicking like a VFL game.
