Does anyone think one of our medium sized defenders should become a forward? We are definately lacking in permanent fowards. At the moment the only specialist forwards are Farmer, Medhurst, Pavlich and McPharlin. Headland has become a permanent forward to a lesser extent. Its probably one of the few reasons that Medhurst was able to retain his spot in the team.

I would really like to see Scotty Thornton lineup in the forward line. He's a great mark and quite creative. Not to mention he has pace and could become the utility player Fremantle were trying to turn Dion Woods into.

With the return of Haddrill and Hayden to top form next year i'd imagine our backline will be chock full and the forward line could definately use some bolstering.

The other medium sized defenders include Grover, Mundy, Dodd, Parker and to a lesser extent M.Carr who plays predominantly in the midfield. Of those i think Thornton could be converted into a handy forward.

Bell should also be spending less time in the midfield and more time as a forward pocket. The guy has the discipline and smarts to crumb packs effectively and create space when needed. Would give a handy return as a forward pocket which could prolong his career.

We should definately have more players capable of moving between the midfield and forward line. Too few of the Fremantle midfielders are capable goal kickers. Most aren't renowned goal kickers. It would be nice to get a 20-30 goal return from a few midfielder-forwards.

Thornton a terrific mark? Have you ever seen him take a contested mark? He gets his posessions by outsmarting the opposition and reading the play better. You don't have that luxury as a permanent forward, although he could float forward for short bursts as an extra man.

I think Hadrill would make a great full forward. Strong, quick and a superb kick. We probably need him down back though.

Hayden came to the club as a midfielder/small forward so he would be able to play forward if Medhurst is traded.

I agree with you on Bell.
