To get back on track, not many teams play the standard 6 forward positions. Quite regularly teams will play with only one or maybe two forwards on the full forward line, and the rest of the forwards start between half forward and the wing, thus creating a big open area to run into in the forward line.

I make this point in that alot of forward pockets are now playing up the ground, so the defenders must be miserly but must also have a bit of speed in their legs.

Chick on Medhurst sounds wise.

Longmuir is deceptive with his marking skills and will hand the ball over to runners coming past (his kicking past 45 metres is iffy).

Ignoring Farmer is like ignoring Fido, in 5 minutes you could be made to look an absolute fool.

Croad may be down back.
The one bloke that gave Medhurst real trouble last year was Hardwick. When we played port Hardwick managed to get under Medhursts skin with good tough play and Medhurst resorted to appealing for free kicks that just weren't there. Chick on Medhurst would be a good matchup, because chick is a tough player and goes hard at the ball, hopefully Medhurst has learnt from the port game last year on how to deal with those sorts of matchups.

Good to see at least some Docker fans know something about Football.

I thought Wirra already played down back?

Yes quite a rarity, but refreshing none the less.

The proposed match-up of chick on medhurst would seem a good one as we saw chick curl riccuitios dominance last week after he ripped us apart in the 2nd quarter.

And Jod, Eagle_Fan is a chick and she seems to know a bit about footy... probably more than yourself.
Is everyone blind, or was I the only one to see the numerous amounts of smilies in the post. Suggesting that I was just having a laugh. It's derby week for gods sake???

Wooden will get flogged in the air though. Therefore a tough competitor like Chick to employ Hardwick tactics (in terms of Hardwick's effort on Medhurst last year) is a better idea. Brady Rawlings did a serviceable job against Medhurst, but his lack of positioning and marking smarts was found out by Medhurst.

scary lineup :p
Well this 'scary lineup' flogged North in round 4. Say what you will about North or their defence, but it just goes to show if they ever click, they fire bigtime.

There's a good number around with a pretty good knowledge of footy (past and present), it's just unfortunate that some love to stir and get the discussion away from footy related topics, but then all teams have "irritating posters".

It would be a good match-up, although I doubt Chick would be used in defence. In 2002 at Hawthorn and in Rd 3, Chick was mostly used in the half forward line and a bit of time in the midfield.

It would be a good contest, they are both fairly quick players off the mark and go hard at the footy.
