Deledio captain?

Make them co -captains...happy with that.

I hate this co-captain nonsense. It's just not needed. Lets not fall victim to this garbage.

One captain is all that is needed.

It's Cotchin, unfortunately for Deledio.

Lids has really come on in terms of on field leadership and off field stuff. I'd seriously consider him as a greta contender. But I reckon Cotch is just the born leader - similar to Judd in some ways. Having both is great. With JR8 we have a good number of younger real leaders. Haven't been able to say that for a long long time.

I hate co captains. Makes no sense. You have one captain and then a leadership team.

Deledio is a great leader, but I say this with all respect, he is second to Cotchin. For that we are lucky to have a few leaders in our young brigade, but even more fortunately we have one of the best leaders in Cotchin to have graced our club.

Chris Newman was vital and his leadership is unheralded, but the next captain is Trent Cotchin. Without a doubt.

I 2nd.

even tho I prefer the anarcho-syndicalyst collective approach

If this guy becomes captain after last nights piss weak performance I will switch teams. Overpaid/over rated

Don't worry man. They wont base captaincy over one match.

As for overpaid, well, so are all AFL players.

Bah and next week if he has a blinder you'll back him for the brownlow.

Yeah he wasn't great last night, seems to be a problem of lids because he is always average in Round 1. But that being said he was huge defensively, something that has been a knock on him over the years. That lunge and tackle to knock Robinson off the ball strolling into goal kept us in it just a little bit longer and showed the desperation I think we all feel he lacks at time and separates him from Cotchin.

Watching on the box it was hard to tell... only saw Lids when he was actually in the play.
Where did he play? Didn't seem to be in the centre for bounces hardly at all.

Perhaps it's just me but I would be putting him right in the thick of it all the time... the more he gets it the better we play because of his great ball use.

Where we looking for him to be getting it wide and creating from there? The problem with this theory when playing The Blues is that they are brilliant at seeing the ball locked into hard contested clinches... the ball pinging around like a pin-ball before one of them forces it forward to a clear player.

And piss off calling him soft... I really hate that shit... although he may have only had it 21 times he also made 7 tackles and I saw him get crunched a number of times too.

That's crap. I watched him off the ball most of the game and he refused to chase and if it's known that he's average round 1 then why did he even play...save him for round 2.
Yeah he may have a blinder next week but then he'll do nothing for 6 weeks.....

Cotch is a lock.

Deledio doesn't do it int he big games like Cotchin and will never captain Richmond due to it. You can't have running outsiders who cough up the ball to much as captains.

I'd like to think Martin will improve again this year to be a Voss type player and slot into a VC post with Riewoldt providing strong leadership in the forward line and Grimes down back.

I'm happy that you took the time out to watch Deledio off the ball the whole game. If he has a blinder next week no doubt it will be down to your words of wisdom.

To add to that I just read he completed the most pressure acts on the ground. Interesting stat for a lazy player who did nothing defensively
