And he wasn't even top 17 in captaincyNot last year, the year before then. 2013. No doubt he wasn't top 5 last year, honestly he wasn't top 30.
Don't forget that

Deledio is a more consistently good player. Griffen might have hit higher highs. Griffen has a great finals record, but Deledio has been Richmond's best player in our two recent finals.
Griffen is a media love-child; Deledio is one of the most criminally underrated players of his generation.

Deledio has spent his career largely as a good player in a dud team. Griffen was the best player in a top four team and then later on in his his career he has done the same.
Really? Are you sure? Oh, we are now. Thanks for clearing that up,The Doggies are pretty shit too

Now, if you bothered to, or are indeed capable of, comprehending my original post you'd have realised I did acknowledge that
. I pointed out that despite us being crap now, like Richmond were for much of deledio's career, not too long ago we were a top four side and playing (and winning) finals with griffen our best player.
So griffen has been the best player in a team better than richmond earlier and continued that output even after the bulldogs declined.
Ergo he's had a better career and been a better player so far.
Richmond need to win a final first before they can be declared on a similar footing to what we were. So far it is two finals, two embarrassments. Our 2008-2010 side would have smoked them.
If Lids had played for Geelong he'd be a seven-time All-Australian. Players look better in stronger teams. As Richmond improves, so will Deledio's standing in the eyes of the general football public.Deledio has spent his career largely as a good player in a dud team. WGAF?
you win the flag or you dont
both clubs are/were in the same basket finals but not good enough
i dont think your winning the argument by going hard on this point
Griffen was our best player in 2010. 2010 being earlier than 2015 - the year we are in now. Capiche?
And yet managed to get less of the ball than Boyd, Cross, Cooney, Deledio in that year.

a) Griff is/was not a top 5 player.

Wrong. Most did not consider him the second best midfielder at any stage of his career.Wrong. Most considered him the second best midfielder in the league behind Ablett on the back of his 2013 season.
Watch some footy, not a stat sheet

Your argument fails because it's utter nonsense.if deledio played for geelong he would of been traded after his first season in exchange for someone with a ticker
your argument fails because part of the reason Richmond doesn't improve is because players like deledio don't improve.

Put Lids on Enright's HBF and Enright in Richmond's midfield and see who has more AA gongs.
You'd think an Essendon fan would appreciate Lids, given he tears you a new rectum every time we play you.
