i think the best way to answer this question is if they both reach their full potential. which current or past player would they be most like. im a big fan of lids & think that he had an exellent first year could not be faulted
some posts have suggested that murphy has had to endure the best tags every game last year. the same applys to lids since half way through his first year he has been tagged by the best opossition tagger so i think its pretty equall in that area and thats the main reason for him having stints in the fowardline which has shown how versatile and dominant he can be
exellent skills, versatility, speed, good hands, definate leadeship qualities if he lives upto his potential............. fast james hird type (hopefully)
murphy is one of the carlton players i actually really do like (not many of them mind you) he reads the play very well ,will become a very very good inside midfielder that will regularly get 25+ possesions agame hasnt had the initial impact as lids due to an early shoulder injury in my opinion but has shown enough to suggest he will be a champ for the blue baggers
end result if he lives up to potential...........as another poster suggested
i would see him very much a scott west.
but both teams can be very happy with these two boys they are both definate a graders . in regards to winning brownlows i think they both can.
which 1 will win first will depend on which team is more successfull in the coming years, and being a tiger supporter no prizes for guessing who i would pick :) james hird - scott west

On Murphys kicking 1 game I saw him try and kick it to another carlton player and kicked clean over his head and out of bounds on the full the distance would have only been about 20 metres

I saw Deledio one game (of a few) poo his pants as he went in for the ball. He does it too often. He might have flair but hes got no guts!

Deledio is not only offically the equal fastest player at Richmond, but he is now officially the strongest player on our list after just 3 years.

Super speed + super strength + only a few months older than Murphy = Deledio!! :thumbsu:

..d, but he is now officially the strongest player on our list after just 3 years...

lol. If that's the case you should be worried. He has zero physical presence on the footy field, and does everything he can to avoid physical contests. Outside and soft are his trademarks at this stage. :)

Wow, Murph must be good to be so close in a poll. The Carlton hate out there is so strong. We never do any good in these polls.

Murphy along with Stevens is the only hard ball getter in the Blues midfield next year. Which wont help him very much. As a 3rd year player, hes going to be expected to feed the Blues endless list of soft outside players ala, Walker, Gibbs etc. Its just not going to be fair on such a young player.

Deledio will prosper in a HFF-Midfield role. Given license to go where he likes, he'll continue his great form from late 2007, and dominate some games to that extent. :thumbsu:

Because he is too scared to go and get the ball! Deledio=Sheepdog!

Both are gun players but i'd choose Murphy. He's got great skills, sublime vision and ranks up possesions. Deledio is more attacking and has more x-factor but Murphy will be a star

I think they are both very even. Murphy is a Brett Ratten type midfielder who will be at the bottom of packs laying tackles and getting clearences, whereas Deledio will be a much more flashy and versatile player who may go missing during a match, but also will have the ability to turn a match in an instant.

Stevens is soft, Murphy is hard at it but Judd is definitely harder than both.

As a Tiger's supporter, I am more than happy with the way Deledio is progressing. As with Murphy, he is a class act from what I have seen from this kid. Both teams should be happy with these guys, as far as picking out the better player it would be hard to judge as they play different roles within their respective teams.

deledio easily

has height speed and skill

murphy will be a good footballer but deledio's versatility makes him a much more attractive proposition

DELEDIO ALL THE WAY MY FAVOURITE PLAYER mUrphy has not got great skills

delidio is more likely to win a brownlow because he is flashy and an outsider...murphy had a lot of class and sublime skills but isn't one to flaunt it...

still think that murphy is a better player
