The squad of 29 looks predictable, however I hope the club makes some smart decisions when selecting the final 26, IMO we need to focus on the folllowing

1. Continue the search for a "no Rutten" contingency plan

2. Play players that are in genuine contention for round 1

On the rookies, I am not convinced that we should continue to play Rookies this late in the pre-season, unless the club has a desire to promote a rookie to the senior list immediately as Burton is on the long term injury list and the promoted rookie has a realistic chance of playing senior footy.

On the rookies

Schmidt and Martin have all experienced game time however Moss has missed out...

Does anyone have any mail on Moss and why he may not be getting a look in, is is fitness?

i agree...i don't believe we should be playing any rookies for the rest of the pre-season games. Martin and Schmidt haven't shown enough to prove that they're top 25 selection material, and especially once we get all the senior players back from injuries, there would be no way they could break into the squad this early in the season.

Douglas and Tippett are definite inclusions IMO, as they need some proper match practice before the season proper. the last spot should then be between Dangerfield and Armstrong.

Re: Adelaide vs Box Hill

Hawthorn are resting all regular senior players for this week.
I assume the AFL have approved this.

red players are not on Hawthorn's list

Didn't he play well in the last match? I'm only going by reports here mind you, I barely had a chance to listen to the call of the match.

I can only go by reports, but yeah. seems to have had a good game. Just suggesting that he'd be next in line as a first year player.

Looks like Ed Curnow might be playing for Hawthorn against us.
Weird that they can't even fill a squad and have to resort to VFL players to make up the numbers
Bit like Essendon at the end of last year

So... what the hell are we going to use as an excuse if we lost this one?

;)

You won't. You should see our list of non-players. It goes something like:

FF: Williams - Roughead - Rioli
HF: Brown - Franklin - Osborne
Ce: Young - Lewis - Bateman
HB: Hodge - Croad - Ladson
FB: Guerra - Gilham - Birchall

Ru: Campbell
RR: Mitchell
Ro: Sewell

I/C Ellis, Dew, Murphy...

Yep, only Renouf from the Grand Final team is playing.
