Been called illiterate by JG and now an amateur by you
how well am I going:D

I live in Hedland mate. Nowt else to do but partake in the amber nectar. By the way I put a post on DL under my name of Greennred (old ..very old user name) asking if ANYTHING was said to Rosich...20 odd views in 1 minute..no responses...LOL.

How they hated referring to Lach72's reporting on the meeting on BF. It's funny.

On a somewhat related note I was standing up the back right of the room and saw a bloke in a grey jumper show of a tatt of the new logo on the left shoulder (I think). Looked very cool!! And I'm not a fan of tattoos. Although I am a fan of the bloke on the flanno that asked steve to pay for a new tattoo and got the players to sign his shirt. Highlight of the night!! :)

Yes ,tacking onto the existing buildings I would imagine
2020 was mentioned as the culmination of a forward plan established in 2008 which incl the topping up with youth and the re branding of the club
I hope Ive got this right ,4 or 5 pots do tend to make the mind wander just a tad:eek:

I thought the plan was quicker but the o verall vision was foer where the club as a whole would be in 2020.

The broad blueprint will be out next year, for the joint venture between FFC and SFFC, for what they're calling the Fremantle Oval Precinct, includin expanded training facilities (as the fitness guys reckon they're too small) and large member facilities

So what happens to East Freo (the far more successful Fremantle club)?

Completely sidelined?

East Freo might end up at the Freo Oval as well the way it's going. I've heard rumors their ground will be re-developed into residential area. May be just BS, who knows.

I hope someone admits that the process to get to the new gear wasn't ideal, and that they've learned from that for future surveys.

I believe that that simple statement would set a lot of things to rest, and make it much easier for some to accept the changes.

Personally, I think the new jumper looks okay, not too sure about the logo. I'm just most worried with the rift the process to get there has caused between supporter camps. I find it a bit sad to see Freo fans ridiculing each other for their sentiments about the club.

Spot on. The jumper is harmless, the process was a disgrace. The red and green a smaller issue. The logo, on the other hand is pissweak IMHO. We had a strong bold muscled Docker and now we have a stick figure.

Player video espousing the jumper.
Will get them frothing at the mouth

The player video had Pav, Duff and Hilly giving their thoughts on the fresh new look. Hardly a ringing endorsement there. Quite clearly the remaining 39 players think the new jumper is a piece of poo...;)

BTW my favourite bit was when Harris said plebiscites are no good and mentioned the recent federal election hung parliament as proof! Down with democracy goddamit!

Members can shout them down and express dissent, the fact that's not happening shows that

a) DL people really are gutless
b) they've been beaten down by the Steve's

Gutless?

They were always going to be beaten down by the Steves, and everyone at Dockerland knew that. They knew they'd bring out some propaganda video, with some players, who would express there liking for the freshnewbold look. The Steves wanted to nip the dissent in the bud and present it as disloyal.

I mean, if Hilly and Pav like it, that makes it alright surely?

The fact is they (Dockerlanders) love the club and want to see it succeed most of all. Many of them have been members since inception and have suffered the slings and arrows of being a Freo supporter without complaint.

They've got a lot more class than many of keyboard heroes on this site. :(

I'll take hero over clairvoyant.

By the way the vid was nothing new (1/10/2010) - hey maybe they did know that! maybe they should have prepared better?

Don't dispute DL'rs love the club, why else would anything about it halfway close to resembling a negative opinion be deleted.

.

lol.
Shows that the majority of members are even less concerned with voting than they were with the re-branding.

Reading through the threads on both here and DL I wonder whether or not that some people realise that for most of our members and supporters that supporting a footy team means going to the footy every second week, having a bit of banter around the workplace and something to talk about when you are at a party.

It is a nice diversion between our ho hum lives. Doesn't mean that they are not passionate etc but they don't want to be bogged down with political bull crap. I know to others it is a lot more but I am saying the majority of supporters/members but that is JMO.

And yes I didn't vote:eek:

This is the debate in a nutshell. We're now apparently liked by the cool kids.

I'm glad everyone you know that supports Freo likes the changes. We obviosuly don't associate with the same Freo supporters but, well fine.

But what the f**k should we care what other supporters, let alone Eagles supporters think? Were you sick of getting teased? Sick of the derision? Getting bagged by Eagles supporters is going to happen anyway; if they're coming up with comments about the jumper/dockers/anchor then you know they're getting desperate. They're a supporters of a club that fundamentally changed their jumper about 6-7 times in 23 years, has just finished bottom with little optimism for the future and bred a drug culture that wouldn't look out of place in an Edinburgh housing estate. Try firing that back at them and watch them fumble about.

Carlton have probably got the most iconic jumper and logo in the AFL yet it hasn't stopped them from getting a relentless bagging for being a cheating, tanking rabble with financial problems.

I wish some members of the Freo fraternity could grow some spine.

My spine's fine.

I'm fine about the changes too.

And I'll be buying their fine merchandise.

And once the season starts we finely might be able to start talking about football instead of logos and colours.

I attended the meeting last night and sat in front of Scossie, who opened up this post.
I thought the meeting ran very well, was pleased that there were no disruptions from angry poeple. Also the meeting I thought was very well attended.
I have looked at DL this morning,to see the response,it disappoints me a bit.I know everyone is entitled to their opinion on things, but, last night was the time for those who feel hard done by to have their say.
There are still those who continue to bag the meeting. Why!!!

The suggestion that it was a staged event surely must go the same way as the DL march. As to the suggestion that the Board had muscle men on hand,it is called security. They were there in case of a few who may have become upset, and maybe wanted the meeting to get out of hand.
But my main point of this post is,If you had something to say, then you have missed your chance.Complain about the half hour for questions by all means. But I am sure, had you really wanted the time limit to be extended then, all you had to do was stand up and request that more questions from the floor be taken.
I congratulate the marchers for their wanting to prove a point, and also for the decorum they showed at the meeting.Well done. But it is it is too late after the event to make your noise and complain.
Oh and for those who are going to ask if I had the courage to stand and ask the questions, yes I did.I didn't ask a question, but queried the process.
It saddens me that we no longer will have Green and Red as part of our colours, but have sent my membership off and eagerly look forward to getting my tickets. But surely the most important thing is that we as supporters, and ticket holders, get behind the players and the club.
Are we divided!!!I don't think it is as bad as some would have us believe. We will,as a club still have our dissenters, this is there right. It is no different to those who continually bagged Macca or clive or Smokey. We are divided only by our opinions,on what we like,or dislike.

Anchor Man good post.

However, in regards to making noise after the event, whay else do you propose? How can they make a noise and complain when they don't even know there is something to make a noise and complain about?

When this was leaked before the launch, the club received a considerable number of emails asking if the rumours were true and expressing their disappointment if they were. They received a non-commital standard formletter. Then the changes occurred. At no point was there any transparency from the club.

I'll support the players and cheer on the team but there are a lot of long time hardcore supporters that are feeling massively let down by a club that could junk it's traditions so callously and treat it's members with contempt.

But then what should I expect from a bloke who's support for Freo is contingent on them paying him a whole heap of cash*?

*I know this is the case with almost all football club CEO's but not all football club CEO's come in and immediately make unnecessary, fundamental changes.

Pretty sure that comment was in relation to the meeting last night. Not in the way the changes were made; which most people agree was poorly handled. As in, if you went to the meeting last night and kept your mouth shut, quit bitching about the way the meeting was run and/or not getting your say. You had your chance, you did nothing.

The whole thing is starting to look like your typical off-season, no footy to talk about, storm in a teacup.

  • Only 30 supporters/members out of 40,000 members - and however many tens of thousands of supporters - marched in protest of the jumper/logo changes.

  • The member elected board member retained her position with 10% more of the vote than her nearest challenger.

  • Nobody threw a shoe at Rosich during the meeting.
Apart from some debates on BF, DL and probably WHTP does anyone really care all that much?

This. Good post.

We are Freo fans regardless of our opinions on jumpers, players, logos, coaches, staff etc. - one thing we can all agree on as that we need to win a couple flags - or more

If opinion on winning flags divides us then we as a club are pretty much f**ked
