20 out of 40000 isn't very much.

The bloke at the front of the march suggested that there was 35-40 people in it. There were plenty of people that didn't march that were there at the meeting that don't support the changes though. Even assuming there was 20, using this logic then as there was no march in support of the changes, 20 beats 0. :):footy:;)

And congrats to Kate; 28% of 2000 is a truly ringing endorsement. It's quite possible that the anti-vote was split between other candidates, always possible in a first past the post setup. However it's the system we have, so no complaints on that score. Based on how the club now gathers opinion I suppose we should be grateful that we were able to vote at all. They could have just asked a focus group and then selected the board members based on their opinions.

I'm against the re-brand, I attended the meeting, I took the train to Freo. I saw a few people gathered around for the "march" and then I walked straight past them to get to the meeting early to get a good seat.

It's spurious to suggest that only the marchers are against the re-brand, just as it's equally spurious to call all of us against the re-brand as "Dockerlanders". Grow up FFS.

The support from the crowd for those asking "negative" questions about the re-brand was definitely more noteable and vocal than the support for those expressing "positive" thoughts on the changes. If I had to guess, I'd say 60/40 against, maybe more. So what does that mean? Fck all in the scheme of things.

It's here, it's done, it aint gonna change back.

Yeah common acceptance and knowledge is a bitch. I don't understand why supporters of the change would need to march - nor express their opinion at the meeting. Maybe they just didn't want to take up ch7 airtime - who knows.

You make it sound like it's a derogatory term. :D

well it IS a derogartory term on this forum!

..guess it's not spurious to suggest Dockerland organised the failed march though:)

Maybe. Maybe not. One could argue that it was simply organised by an individual (pollyanna) who happens to post on Dockerland. It was not organised by Shane at all.

And anyone was welcome to attend along with them. You certainly didn't need to produce weighty evidence of recent DL posts to gain entry.

I believe this is the accurate answer.;) DL even has a thread lambasting the lack of marching posters who moaned & complained ( and still are) yet didn't participate...

I am going to buy one of the new jumpers before the start of the season, didn't like the process but they look freakin sweet. According to Dockerland I am now either a bandwagoner or a freagle. Good times ahead.

I guess I'm just one of the few that enjoys BOTH sites.

Call me crazy, but I just can't get enough of all things Freo.

I too will be purchasing a new away gurnsey and if I ever get approached and accused of being a bandwagoner/freagle (which won't happen IRL since they're a bunch of keyboard warriors but hypothetically speaking), I'll just kindly show them my membership card which shows how many years I have been a member for :)

Got back in with 28%. Next best 17%

How many votes lodged in total, and what is the current membership?

Like I said, take the comment that the players have embraced the new design, including the ones who have broken their backs for the old jumper, as you will. Was just pointing out that most of the protestors keep banging on about how 'I' or 'we' weren't consulted and don't even care what the players themselves desire.

All good points about members and membership support but I wouldn't be surprised if our membership rivals Collingwood's in 5-10 years time. We are already more than halfway there and haven't won a thing.

If the options are:

1. Remaining a people's club that operates like Anna Kournikova (looks the package but can't perform on the field) and the members retain a transparent view of changes; or

2. Having the club feel a little bit less personalised and member-driven as it becomes more professional, successful and ultimately expands,

Then I'd gladly accept the latter.

Ultimately, the team and players aren't here for our enjoyment. They are here for theirs and they are here to win a premiership cup before they retire. And ultimately, for me, watching a well-drilled hungry cohesive team is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the opposite, so win-win. All that's left to do is sit back, get behind the boys and enjoy the ride.

Agree things could've been handled better but campaigning through the streets of Freo, providing unwanted distraction to the players (although limited), isn't helping anyone.

The club's membership would have surged anyway, with the successes that are clearly on offer in the near future, but of course those backing the changes will attribute that to the re-branding. Membership won't get anywhere near Collingwood proportions until WA gets a larger capacity facility and Collingwood's success begins to wane.

If the club is supposed to be run like a professional business then the players views are irrelevant. They will do what they're told or be given the arse just like everyone else. Isn't that the way the real business world works?

No player is gonna put their balls on the line an stand up an say no i dont like it i want the old one back.

IMO a fans thoughts on the jumper is more important than any players.
Why we are the ones who fork out the hard earned money to but the merchandise.
We have followed the club for alot longer than any player, the majority of them never cared about freo until they were drafted by them.

Whats done is done there is no going back now, due to legal reasons the changes came about in an underhanded way.
I would hope there aware of the conflict its caused members an will make sure any future major changes are properly consulted with members.

An reginald if u really cared an wanted to show the club your anger, you would find time to go there.
Sounds like there wont be many as they are all big talk on the forums but wont actually stand up an do something about it as they said they would.
So they will need your support in getting the message out.

If you want an honest players opinion dont listen to what they have said to media speak to them in person.
What they say in media means nothing.

An no we will not have collingwood type member numbers for a very long time.
The stadium is to small an doesnt look like getting an upgrade for over 10 years.

The 6 hour trip would have been worth it, but unfortunately I was committed to my own club for the night, and being President I felt I couldn't break that commitment.

I sincerely hope you are not accosted for wearing the new jumper - we are all Freo fans first and foremost. I'd be embarrassed and ashamed if one Freo fan confronted another over this.

But you might want to refrain from accusing one portion of Freo's fans of being gutless keyboard warriors. It isn't helpful.

The point leungtl riased is valid though... Perhaps he wouldn't call them keyboard warriors if some DL posters didn't brand anyone who likes or wears the new gear Bandwagoners/Freagles/NewFreshBolder's etc... that isn't helpful either. But yes, we are all Freo fans and not everyone will agree so as human nature dictates some form of conflict/disagreement usual follows. When the footy kicks off next year, the better.
If they fling it, they have to expect a bit back.

I can't imagine anyone having a go at a fellow supporter for wearing an old jumper. Old skool jumpers are a common sight for all teams and I've never heard of anyone copping grief from their own kind over it.

Unless you're going to start abusing people with new jumpers first of course.
I won't unless I hear another 'build a bridge' or such tripe! I've seen the bollocks being dished up (by both sides)! I know ppl whose expressed opinion is, "It's only a game ffs!"
There is nothing about this scenario I like! The jumper exists in 3 codes that I know of, hardly unique! I smell a big rat in the whole scheemozzle! The biggest irony is supposed fanatical Freo supporters who hate the Eagles swallowing the pathetic rationales dished up by Harris and Co.

I will repeat what I have said before : I could be bothered filling in the survey! If you couldn't be bothered = BAD LUCK; If you did and you feel disgruntled = Democracy! ( Bad Luck ) !!!

Hardly democracy. The survey questions were nothing to do with the eventual result. If they actually asked the proper questions and my views were outnumbered by others I wouldn't mind so much. Survey = deceitful (up yours, you're expendable anyway).

Don't cry Reggy me boy! Hope getting personal makes you feel a little better.... :D

I was using the "up yours" line in brackets as indicative of a generic response from the club to questionairre correspondents (e.g. myself), I thought in similar fashion to your generic "bad luck" reference, nothing personal was intended.

Don't tell me this is going to degenerate into "but they started it" territory?

Because I know for a fact that they started it....:D

:thumbsu: Roll on footy season.

If they fling it, they have to expect a bit back.

Handbags at dawn?;)

Move on.......

I wish people would move on from saying "move on".
I wish people would get over telling others to "get over it"
We've got fans divided over whether or not we're divided or not.
And we've got people arguing over whether it's worth arguing over.
Fck me dead.
How about we all just agree to disagree.

edit: as a piece offering to prove my worth, I have reverted to my old avatar. The sig maintains the rage, though...
