From memory the main concern that brought the rule in was Joel Bowden in 2008 who took a kick out, kicked it to himself, then ran it over the line again to waste time. Hawthorn used it a little like that when under seige in the 2008 GF (I haven't watched the game back but was at the game itself). From memory Guerra might have rushed a couple like Bowden. Mark Williams kicked one through the behinds which is different again, more a bad look which I don't think even Clarkson was thrilled with.

IMO if they just disallowed the designated kicker from kicking it to himself and rushing it like Bowden did, then I could live with just about any other rushed behind. Something like the designated kicker can't rush a behind without a teammate or opposition player touching it.
