When he grabbed that one I thought "Yep, here's his gimme goal when the game is done that seals his selection in future."
And then he does that.
Was sitting in line with that one - never thought he was a chance, made the comment to my partner that at least it was a throw in, almost gave him the benefit of the doubt that it was done on purpose as a smart move.

If he retains his spot next week and we haver Taylor kicking 4 in the SANFL who can very much play his spot, Taylor should be seeking a move at seasons end as it will be a p155 take from the coach

This was a great example of his positioning and reading play is pretty good ie decent Footy IQ.
And his skillset not matching it.

Sometimes he can get in good positions like that play at the end of the Showdown where Dawson ended up with his kick after the siren.
Murphy roved the pack well, then inexplicably fumbled and then got smashed by the Port player for a free kick.
It worked out perfectly in the end. If he doesn’t fumble it, he throws it on the boot and nothing happens, but he fumbles get clobbered and he takes one for the team and walks off the pitch letting Dawson kick the winning goal.

He had 1 kick and a couple of handballs to no-one against a VFL side. I’ll never be convinced of a good footy IQ with him. I do know he can’t mentally handle the speed of the game. Something he’s never been able to handle from game 1. How can well established AFL coaches not see that ??

He is one of those who are a pretty good SANFL level player but not really up to it at AFL level. Nothing wrong with that and who knows, if he is delisted and heads to Sturt next year and wins a magarey and leads us to a flag i will have completely changed my mind on him
His one attribute is reading play and Footy IQ.
He would be no where near AFL level if he didn't have that ability to get into the "right" spots.
Just not skilfull or physically good enough at the AFL level.
He does get near it.
That is the issue. When u see us play live you can see how well he does position himself.
But he is too slow and skilkset not good enough for AFL. Struggles to really be involved.
Like Jimmy Rowe and Mitch Grigg. Can read play and get into good spots.
If Murphy played for another SANFL club he would win a Magarey.
But should not be on an AFL list.
And we know he'll be back first chance Nux gets.
