Geoff Walsh was just on the radio here saying that Collingwood don't really care where Wellingham wants to go. They will be looking out for their own interests only and looking to get the best deal they can for their club. In other words, they are desperate to get both he and Dawes to Melbourne for pick 4.

If West Coast don't offer up at least pick 17 for Wellingham, it's hard to see you getting him, by the sounds of Walsh.

He still has to sign the contract.

I realise that, but Collingwood will be piling the pressure on him to do so, I expect. It's going to take a strong will for him to resist.
I could imagine sw entering the psd before signing for melbourne.
Anyway I think this is overblown, clubs just playing hard ball.

I do not think he is worth 17, a little higher. More like 25.

Just out of interest, when assessing Dawes worth, would clubs be looking at his 2012 to determine his value (which was very average) or his 2010-2011? He's a difficult one to put a value on I reckon, I mean you could say that at his best he's better than Mitch Clarke and therefore a first rounder, but based on this past season he's a second rounder? Is he a good player who had a bad season or did he look good because he was in a premiership winning side?

Hope that he does, that would be karma for the way Collingwood got Luke Ball.

It seems that Collingwood have got their game-face on with regards to this though, as you can imagine, with Melbourne reportedly offering up so much for him. They're not going to like the look of 25 if they have another club offering up 13 for him.

If someone had asked me what I thought Chris Dawes was worth three weeks ago (before all this started), I would have said a pick in the 30's at best. His season this year was horrible and he has a genuine weakness with his overhead marking that is not likely to go away any time soon.

I wouldn't particularly want my club to get him even for a 4th rounder I reckon (especially on the hefty price tag he is apparently on) and I could hardly believe what I was hearing when I first heard that Melbourne had offered up pick 4 for he and Wellingham, or that they might give up 13 for Dawes alone. Mitch Clarke's best is way ahead of Dawes best, BTW, from what I've seen and heard.

Gutted that Brown wants to leave, going to struggle for depth nxt year!!
He wants out does he? Is this official? We're apparently heavily into him, but from what I've read on here about him I'm not exactly overjoyed at the thought, especially with him being "injury-prone" and having poor disposal.

EDIT: Just seen the above.

That throws a spanner into the works for sure, but if he wasn't going to get much game time next year and was dependent on retirements and/or injuries over the next 18-24 months I don't blame him. If we can get someone who is prepared to have minimal game time to cover then it's not a total loss, assuming we get something decent.

On Cripps, I don't know much about him. He wants to come home yes, thats great. But is he likely to get a game with us anytime soon? Do we really want him?
