Brown for the Goddard compo and Cripps for mine.

AFL-ready key defenders are like gold.
Uh no, we won't be giving up Cripps AND pick 13 for Brown. I think with both players requesting a trade to the respective clubs it'll be a pretty straight forward swap, with us probably throwing in some steak knives.

Yeah I disagree. Brown's a 50-game key defender who'd play every game for the Saints. Cripps would be a fringe player for us. Plus if he's going on the market there'll be a few Melbourne clubs interested.

We'd be asking for that Goddard pick I think. We might throw in something else to get Cripps - probably what we get for Stevens.

He's played 50 games in 6 years  Think you're overrating him quite a bit

How often does a 50 game 24 year old KPD come onto the open market? He missed a season due to a knee injury, then for the other years is behind Glass and Mackenzie.

No offence, but Brown would be worth more to the Saints than Cripps is to the Eagles.

Yeah but he's still ready to go in AFL now, can't say the same for Cripps. Its not an equal trade and we'd be looking for a reasonable draft pick for Brown at least.

The problem we were going to have with Brown was that he is more valuable for some other clubs than he is for us, at least in the short term. Means that the Saints can offer him better money and more game time now plus he gets to go home.

Disappointing but understandable.

We are losing a lot of our depth atm - players just outside best 22 but in our best 30

I've got serious concerns... If we have a 2013 like 2012 injury wise, we are in a bit of bother (depending on who we can trade in)...

Five Melbourne based clubs talking to Stevens last week , Stevens is going to select the club where he feels he has most game time opportunity .

No offence, but a 24 year old, 3rd in line defender, is not worth a top 20 pick.

Definitely agree with this. But he is also no where near worth the Goddard pick (said to be 13). I would reckon we'd be more likely to trade Cripps and maybe a Farren Ray/third rounder. He's worth more than Cripps, but no where near 13 - and definitely not 13 AND Cripps.

Cripps + Goddard compo <-> Brown + 2nd rounder?

Not sure we'd have a need for Farren Ray either.

What about Brown+18 for pick 12 ??
If we do want cripps i think it should be a straight swap with stevens tbh.
That is more reasonable than the 13 and Cripps for Brown suggestion, that's for sure. We'd actually have a serious look at that I imagine. :thumbsu:
He's next in line behind Glass and Mackenzie... Would be starting 18 in most AFL sides, which is probably why he wants a trade.

If you get him, will play every game for you next year barring injury.
Barring injury is a very pertinent point. Has he ever played a full season?

Any truth to the rumour the Dogs and Hawks are discussing a player swap; Lin Jong for Franklin?

If we do end up trading in Wellingham and Cripps then that covers the loss of Swift and Stevens

Need someone like Pears to cover the loss of Brown

Lycett and McInnes were considered cover for Lynch

Not sure what draft picks all of that will leave us with though
