Realistically, we were never going to part with a first round pick for Brown, so this trade doesn't change anything. Most WC supporters demand a first round pick. Most St Kilda supporters are saying he's not worth more than a 3rd round. Realistic result that the clubs may come to? Maybe a second round. It's been said many times by many people that fair negotiations leave with both parties unhappy.

I expect something like this to happen. In fact the fact we've got pick 24 now makes me think that we may use that to trade to you for Mitch Brown. I think that's over paying, but wouldn't be surprised if the Saints made their trade with GWS today after talking with you guys about what you might want for Brown - and this seems to me like it might be exactly it.
there is absolutely no certainty WC will trade.

people assume it must happen. This is very wrong.

Pick 24 (will become 25 with Goddard compo) and Cripps to us for Brown

Pick 18 and Lynch compo to Collingwood for Wellingham and their second rounder (40ish)

Stevens to Essendon for Pears.

Gain: Wellingham, Cripps, Pears, pick 25, pick 40
Lose: Brown, Stevens, pick 18, Lynch compo

Leaves us with picks 25, 39 and 40.

As far as I understand 24 is for Hickey.
I can't see any deal occurring with what St Kilda have available/wish to trade.

I know there is no certainty. I'd say it's likely though. Not all players that say they want to leave end up leaving (like O'Keefe) However, most of them do.

I still think that this pick 24 would have been sounded out with the Eagles people and earmarked for Brown. The Hickey trade was from all reports our original second rounder, not this pick 24.

It may be the case that we have nothing to offer - but in the end, Eagles supporters are likely to put an inflated price on what they want, and Saints supporters are going to want to pay unders (like a third round). I'd suggest the two clubs after today would have at least talked, and have a better idea than we do what each is willing to do for a deal.

We are allowed to put an inflated price on his head as he is contracted.

Like I said before - that's why deals aren't done on BF. They're done by the clubs.

I can say my club won't take anything less than three first rounders for Cripps. Doesn't make it so. Unless we're in the know, we're just saying what WE want as supporters.

Too soft! 24 for Brown, bah, contracted, doesn't have to leave, let the Aints sit there holding themselves while they wait for the outcome.
IF it's true GWS would offer pick 2 in the mini draft for Brown, send him there.

Melbourne considering offering pick 3 or 4, Dogs offering pick 5 or 6. Doubt they'd be too interested in Brown over a top 6 pick.
