On a serious note, Brady Jones, 24 from Hobart Inside mid.. ex backup wicky in the Sheff Shield for Tas? Worth a look?
Give him a look if he is still available late on or even better in the pre-season/rookie draft. Should get much better with a full preseason and not having to worry about cricket. Was pretty good the couple of times I saw him this year.

If we could get pick 13 off St Kilda for Brown, I bloody hope we could pick up Stringer with it.

In the short term you would plonk him up forward as a 4th tall until he gets appropriate fitness, then push him into the midfield where he could become the big bodied clearance mid we've been missing. His package of size, athleticism, skill and toughness is fantastic, and provided there aren't any complications with his broken leg, he's a good chance to become the best player in the entire draft.

Let's see. Trade in players that are questionable for 2 years and maybe win a premiership.

Big risk. Very improbable it would work given that they wouldn't get much game time on our list. The players Sydney has recruited under this type of scenario were given game time due to the fact Sydney were in transition.

Then compare it with the future in 2 years. Possible retirements: Glass, Embley, Cox, Kerr. Add to that those "depth" players you traded in and we are left with a List that lacks a few younger players coming through that we could have blooded in the next 2 years.

Add to that I think our list is good enough to win a premiership without them. Why bother and risk the short term future.
Need helps, that's why Sydney are always going after KPP's, they simply don't develop enough of them.

But in any case we should be able to make a judgement about the quality of the players available at certain picks in the draft against the cost of bringing in certain players from other clubs. The Josh Hill trade probably stands to example as one where he was better than most of the players on offer in the draft.

I think his athletic ability is probably a little over rated, he's not slow, has a solid leap and is agile enough but othing remarkable. Bloody good footballer though.

That was an absurd free kick given to Stringer against Lowrie for a throw at 2:36 in that video, still annoys me.

I think he has a similar athletic ability to Goddard, and like Goddard (and Watson, Kennedy, Hodge) it's the size that comes with the athletic competence that makes him so remarkable. A touch quicker than average (at least from the pre-injury descriptions of him, although it remains to be seen whether he still has that pace post-injury), a good leap and good agility, all while being able to bully opponents with his size and be an aerial threat.
As much as I'd like a flashy player like Simpson or Garlett, a player like Stringer is exactly what we need, especially post-Kerr.

EH he's was a lot more athletic before he broke his leg, once he's fully over that look out he will be a very good mid.

Vosso was on 720 Sports talk late today , heard a bit of a summary after the interview , but WCE will be quiet in trade periiod now ,...... Mitch Brown going nowhere / Koby Stevens will continue to try and find a VIC club for .

Maybe someone heard the interview ?

I would swap Stevens for Garlett with North throwing in a third round pick , other then that Cripps I reckon will be an Eagle as a vehicle to help him home to WA , we wont overpay IMO .

ROYAL EAGLE, what's the likelihood of a full recovery? Those broken legs can be nasty. Will it cause him to slide or will someone pull the trigger inside the top 20?

From personal experience the issue might be aligning the scar tissue that builds up after such an injury so that it doesn't effect the range of movement in the muscle. This is a slow process that requires regular massage but for most it will be effective.
I'm not sure how badly he broke his leg, but that would explain the reports that his running gait has been altered. It could also be an issue of muscle wastage (loss) that occurs when the leg is inoperative, and solving that is just an issue of doing leg weights and running. I think I saw somewhere on the D+T board that he had been asked about his leg and he said it was feeling fine, which would point to wastage rather than scar tissue, so it might just be that he needs to work on getting strength back into his quads and calf.
If he's back playing footy I doubt he has any persistent nerve damage and he's obviously avoided compartment syndrome, so I doubt there would be any truly long term complications.
