From personal experience the issue might be aligning the scar tissue that builds up after such an injury so that it doesn't effect the range of movement in the muscle. This is a slow process that requires regular massage but for most it will be effective.
I'm not sure how badly he broke his leg, but that would explain the reports that his running gait has been altered. It could also be an issue of muscle wastage (loss) that occurs when the leg is inoperative, and solving that is just an issue of doing leg weights and running. I think I saw somewhere on the D+T board that he had been asked about his leg and he said it was feeling fine, which would point to wastage rather than scar tissue, so it might just be that he needs to work on getting strength back into his quads and calf.
If he's back playing footy I doubt he has any persistent nerve damage and he's obviously avoided compartment syndrome, so I doubt there would be any truly long term complications.

I was thinking more along the lines of the mental issues that you need to overcome beatle, to truly get back to the level prior to the injury. What are your thoughts about that?
