Damn, I got in a 'locked and loaded' but I got cut off

Vozzo on now.

Bulldogs, Essendon and St Kilda interested in Stevens. No clear frontrunner. Would like a pick in the 30s.

Mitch Brown will definitively be at West Coast next year. Under no circumstances will he be traded. Have identified opportunities for him here, more competition than at the Saints.

No update on Cripps. Progressing slower than hoped. Saints after Brown. Told them numerous times they can't have him.
wait was that you before vozzo went on?

So I guess we can pretty much rule out entering the draft in the first round this year. Bit disappointing.
That is my main dissapointment too. In what has been described as a good draft a first round pick or a very early seconder at the earliest is disspointing. They obviously havent identified getting young high end talent in this year, which is why im confused they arent looking at mature bodies from other clubs to fill the needs we have.

We seem to get it very right or very wrong.
I think of it like this.

You have to field 22 players and very few of our players go past 30 years of age. From the age of 18-30 is 12 years.

So to get 22 players over 12 year period your going to need a strike 1.8 players from every trade and draft period. Once you take into account depth you need to going to need to secure over 2 players for every trade and draft period.

2003 - Waters (11), Butler (20, McConnell (26),
2004 - Stenglein (trade), Rosa (29), LeCras (37) Morton (44), Smith (57)
2005 - Hurn (13), McKinley (29), Spangher (34), Armstrong* (PSD)
2006 - Brown (16), Mackenzie (29), Houlihan (43), Schofield (50), Thomson (80)
2007 - Masten (3), Ebert (13), Notte (20), Selwood (22), McGinnity (PSD), Stevenson (RD)
2008 - Naitanui (2), Shuey (18), Swift (22), Smith (36), Jones (52)
2009 - Sheppard (7), Weedon (20), Stevens (22) Hams (RD), Strijk (RD)
2010 - Gaff (4), Darling (26), Lycett (29), Brennan (62) Wilson (PSD), McGovern (RD)
2011 - Hill (trade) Newman (23), McInnes (28), Turbridge (RD)

Clearly we are getting enough hits and we have been able to develop these players into good footballers, some of them stars. We probably need to find more gun midfielders, we should also probably back ourselves to go deeper into drafts.

One essential element you need to remember is oppotunity, it's the reason Ebert left, it probably played a part in Swift calling it quits and the reason Stevens want's to go, you only have limited list space and you also need to make mandatory list changes every year.

Also begs the question, can we do pull a 2004 like trade and draft period.

WCE will need Mitch Brown next year , MacKenzie always misses games with that dicky foot ( hot spots ) he has , at times during the year he spends a few days in a moon boot so we will need Brown .

Barrett just said that he didn't think direct swaps of players was allowed, thought that draft picks had to be included. No wonder he doesn't get anything right.

Pretty sure he's there to make Wallace sound like he knows what he's talking about:D

Though having said that, Plough has made sense more often than not.

Looks like one of two things has happened:

a) Darren Glass has told the West Coast hierarchy 2013 will be his final year.
b) The West Coast hierarchy strongly believe it will be his final year.

I don't think we would risk not getting anything for Brown at the end of next year, and I think he will sign on in an instant when Glass announces his retirement.

I don't see how sext year would be his final year. He was awesome this year, and would of one the BnF if he didn't get suspended.

If he avoids any serious injury, why couldn't he go on another 2?

Thanks Bassman.

I really like that we are sticking to our guns on Mitch. I hope he gets an opportunity and doesn't POQ next year.

Guy I work with is mates with Priddis' folks. Apparently they had dinner with Mitch and Matt recently and told this bloke that Mitch likes it here, he's copping pressure from his folks to go home. He doesn't want to leave....

What would we better for us
FOR Koby Stevens
Pick 32 from sessendon or Cripps from saints

Koby was pick 23 2009 draft
cripps pick 23 2010 draft for me just go with cripps, selwood is at end of career and he could develop into a nice player

Alphabet, didn't you once say Cripps is overrated? If so, are you now saying Cripps can develop into a nice player?

Didn't a respected poster on here mention a rumour that Brown would be used as a lead up forward in 2013?

I know it's basically unanimous that his forward days are over amongst bigfooty posters (and it's something I subscribe to as well) however maybe a pre-season training as a forward will help.

Time will tell.

I think a deal with essendon may be struck for stevens.

I have feeling it could look like 32 and 48 from ess for Stevens and 38 from WCE.
I think most deals are on hold until we know the FA compo

We will most likely get pick 39 or 43 for Lynch - so I daresay we'd rather use that in lieu of pick 38.

Still - it doesn't seem that far from the mark.

The Cripps/Stevens deal seems the most obvious swap.
