What do you mean?

I get that our best side isn't set in stone. There are probably 5-6 guys either side of the cut competing for those last few spots. But is that the same as "not believing" in a best 22?

If you asked Worsfold to pick his preferred team from a full list, do you reckon he'd be unable to do it?
I think he would want to know who we're playing first, where we're playing them, what the weather is, etc. Which is his point.

This makes no sense.
On one hand you're saying they are a myth, and then it follows we should be talking about Woosha culture.. What is it to be ol' mate?
It makes perfect sense, except to you. The bloods culture as some kind of special culture is a myth. We should be talking about the culture of the WCE because this is the WCE board. Which bit don't you understand?

Is it?

In any case, I merely referenced (as opposed to thoroughly discussed) our own culture as something apposite to that 'mythical' bloods culture which would bring out the best in a player that previously was not subject to such a culture. It was in fact as you say referring to WCE culture anyway; I'm not sure you understood the principles behind the post you complain of.

You are still contradicting yourself though; you're applying a belief to one thing to form a conclusion (Sydney's culture is a myth), then applying the same belief to a different thing to form a different conclusion (West Coast's culture isn't a myth); a culture either is or isn't, a myth.

Anyway, back to the cricket.

So do Aliens exist?
Apparently they do ;)

I don't see us taking Cook. Look at pretty much all the successful KFs and they are strong, have a good work-rate (always presenting as an option), can use their body well in contests and have some kind of presence....Cook has displayed none of these traits. He looks like a first round KF bust like McDougall, Fergus Watts, Beau Dowler, Jarrad Grant, Mitch Thorp etc.

McInnes has all the tools as does JK and JD. Would also have Lycett and McGovern well ahead of Cook, so I don't see the reason in getting him.

They most likely turn Cook into a KPD.

As you said, Lycett, McIness, McGovern probably have him covered as a KPF.

Other than Brown we don't have any potentialy KPB's coming through unless we turn one of our young forwards into a defender.

Cook never played a game, did he? And I don't know about you guys but I have never seen him play.

Where are these reviews about his game coming from?
18/casey i assume.

regarding mcinnes as a kpd, I have heard that he is a pretty good reader of the game which is a handy tool for a kpd.

Or Mcinnes can play as defender even? I think we should pick up Cook as a rookie, its not like we have been picking up talent in the rookie draft lately.
I would rather rookie him than give him a spot on the primary list.

WC has been training McInnes as a CHF and he's been playing CHF for Perth and looked damn promising. Not even worth considering a move to the back line.

Sweet, do you think he's any chance of making it? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Kick many goals?
Depends on what you call making it I spose. I don't see a long future for him for the following reasons:

His body- He's very slow, weak (can be shifted off line easily) and has no power in his movements.
His head- Doesn't push himself during games, said to have a big tank but he just kind of short steps his way around the HF forward line. Doesn't look like he likes to push himself.
His overall skill set- Poor below knees, and no real stand out quality in his game apart from the odd Staker-esque pluck over some one. Solid kick on goal too. Doesn't kick many goals and doesn't really threaten too either.

That all looks very harsh but I don't think he's any good.

If we don't need to lose someone of value I'd be happy to take a punt on Lucas cook.

With everything else that's going to be available at that pick I think it's a calculated risk and worth nabbing him
As we have upgraded Dick we only need to take 2 more draft picks so won't cost any players just bring us down to 2 picks in the draft.

So if Adelaide lose their selections. 46 becomes 45, plus 61 and 62 become 59 and 60. Plus a Fremantle and Port don't go into the 3rd round.

Throw Ben Jacobs and Josh Toy into the draft pool and 61 & 62 are a tiny little bit better.

The NAB Draft machine on the AFL website has us taking Shane Nelson at 46, Dean Kent at 61 and Shannon Taylor at 62.
Nelson seems like a good prospect, although he's been dismissed a few times in this thread. What about Kent and Taylor, any thoughts? Kent dominated the colts, anyone rate him?

Actually shows us taking Nelson at 41. Obviously AFL.COM.AU hasn't updated itself with the trades. I have no idea what's been said of Nelson on here but what i've seen in games he's played for west perth I like what I see. He has pace and racks up a lot of possesions. Being lightly built is prob his only downfall.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but Shannon Taylor trained with us last year as a part of the AFL AIS program.

12 months ago he was a very highly rated prospect, with people talking him up for top 10 in this draft. I believe he's one of those naturally gifted people who can do well at any sport they try.

However, he's got serious attitude and personality problems and this has gotten in the way of his football.

What's happened to Chris Yarren Jr this year? I remember 12 months ago we were talking about trying to persuade GWS to trade us the 3rd mini draft pick (meaning they would have only had 1 this year) so that we could pick him up. Seems he's a late pick/rookie prospect now, show's what a difference a year can make...

Tom Howlett is a rookie pick at best. Joseph Morrow is no chance. Interesting both born 1989, school mates of yours?
yeh rookie or late pick Howlett was very impressive in GF with 17 possessions and 8 marks contested marks in the EF backline ,can play fwd too ..anyway just throwing local names out there .
