Controversial call to say float Waters and see what we can get for him? Love him for his courage and ability to run back in front of forwards and take a mark.... but **** me dead i'm sick of his constant turnovers costing us goals on the rebound. There's a reason the opposition don't bother to man him up.

I'd have no problems taking Garlett first round, especially if we only had a late first round pick somehow. Extremely talented, and I think we have learnt a lot in the past about player support, and given I assume we know his shortcomings that we can provide a support structure that will get the best out of him. We have about a bazillion people on staff, after all.

We're gonna have a top 10 pick this year, and even then I'd still take Garlett, I'm still pissed they passed on him in the rookie draft, could've been the bargain of the century, but oh well

If Garlett's future lies predominantly as an IM who can rotate onto a HFF/FP, then he's 1st round worthy for WC. But, if he's a HFF who's too small to, or capable of, rotating proficiently into the midfield at AFL level, then he's not someone WC should be looking to take with their 1st round pick, IMO.

WC need IM's capable of rotating and producing during their time forward. Other positional needs and wants are secondary. WC need to build the midfield around Shuey and Scooter. Kerr is cooked, Priddis is getting on, and is limited, and Masten's strengths lie elsewhere.

If Garlett doesn't fit the mould for the specific kind of midfielder that WC need, then gamble on him lasting to the second round.

From memory, Mackenzie kept Hurley almost touchless for the first half, then went onto Carlisle who managed to get two goals but was wellchecked by Mackenzie for most of the night. Its not like Carlisle got easy marks on Emac.
