Would rather trade for Omera than for pick one.
who did he follow growing up?that would be our only chance I think,if he nominated us when he wanted to come home otherwise he would cost a fortune.Unless we were poo again next year and had a really high draft pick to offer

Was drafted as a defender wasnt he?
And had least played a couple of years in defence before becoming our CHB
At the moment, and for the next few years Brown will provide more at CHB or KPB than McIness or McGovern because he has played there at AFL level before
So if WC are able to persuade Glass, Kerr and Cox to go around again in 2014 we can presume their window will shut then for a couple of years. That should give WC enough time to groom McInnes or McGovern to play CHB.

Should Glass go down in 2014, then do you think Brown is good enough to hold down CHB and allow WC to win a flag ?.

He was drafted as a forward, but I think he played exclusively defense when he came to the club.

Would rather trade for Omera than for pick one.

Might involve wranging pick one in there somehow.

I don't know how we would do it. Having given much thought. But yeah, I don't think pick one is what we need.

But having it out there throws open some possibilities.

But we are notoriously conservative at the trade table. Blind Freddy can see that we are desperate for a top line midfielder.

I would be throwing LeCras in there for the season. It's not been successful in the past, but 2013 is cooked. We might make finals, but barring a massive turnaround in form we won't be taking much part in them. Probably not gonna work as it's been tried and failed in the past, but we got find one from somewhere.

Well if that's true then not taking the St Kilda offer last year was a huge mistake.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.. here we thought we were a premiership chance in 2013 so we held on to him as a back-up should Glass, E.Mac or Schofield go down. Seven months later, our top 4 (and essentially our shot at a premiership) chances are gone. Turns out, it would've been a great trade... didn't know it at the time though

St Kilda are very desperate for an experienced KPD. GWS pretty keen also, probably others as well, Bulldogs, Melbourne etc.
I'm sure there will be Brown interest, though whether it's a pick in the 20s or better will depend on how desperate said clubs are to get a KPD. Fingers crossed there's more than nibbles.

May have already been said but GWS are looking for a ready made good Ruckman and also a KPD. Lycett was one of the best for East Perth on the weekend and kicked 3 goals. With Sinclair looking like a great replacement for Cox we could trade Lycett to GWS.

What do you guys think GWS might offer for Brown and Lycett?

Why not trade Sinclair?

This talk of trading Lycett is premature. He had second year development blues last year (As a result of learning to move with larger muscle mass), played as back up ruckman against Freo in a tight and congested game of football, struggled, had a couple of injuries and has been working consistently (and performing greater in comparison to Sinclair over the past couple of weeks), since.

Lycett's ceiling >>>>>>> Sinclair's, IMO.

Why would we be busting a gut to get the number 1 pick, when the apparent consensus #1 is a Victorian key forward prospect? He might well become a very good player but he doesn't seem to fill a pressing need for us, plus he'll take a few years to come good and by then the go-home factor may well have set in.

Let the Blues, Dogs etc throw players and picks at GWS for him. Why would we get involved in that war?

Doubt he will have value in the 20's - more like 30's
If we're being honest with ourselves, we'd accept the fact that a flag with the Cox/Kerr/Embley vintage is highly unlikely. I say take the 30s pick (or whatever) and get serious about a tilt 3-4 years from now. Also think it will be easier to peel off GWS/GC prospects as top-ups in that timeframe than now. Those kids know they're on the way up, and salary cap issues will be harder felt in 3-4 years.

If this draft is strong (as people seem to say it is), let's get serious about taking it on and let go of the fantasy of a flag this year/next year etc.

This is my opinion, however, if they require a three-way, or god forbid, a 4 or 5-way trade to occur in order to get the pick moving, I think there might be a way for us to cash in and get an upgrade of picks, or a handy best 22 rotation with minimal losses.

Also worth noting that Coniglio was dropped last weekend. GWS has Ward, Scully, Palmer, Treloar, Greene, Whitfield, Shiel, Tyson, Miles, Adams and ...... shit they have a lot of midfield talent. I don't think sending Coniglio back home will hurt them regardless of which draft pick he was.
