Ditching 2 rookies after just 1 season is damning.

I hope it prompts a reavaluation on our attitude towards recruiting rookies. A bit more 'steady back-up' and a bit less *cough* 'project player'.
doesnt the number of rookies allowed reduce this year?

Melbourne may want him.

First hypothetical I could think of:

Stevens and 17 for 45 and 13. Maybe this is overs for Stevens?

Or if they use pick 3 on Viney:

Stevens and 38 for pick 26. Maybe this one is unders?

Disappointing, but not a disaster. He could have been a solid player, but does not seem to have star quality about him.
This year he averaged 20 touches 4 marks 3 tackles <1 goal
i doubt he is going to walk into any of the vic teams starting line ups

There can be only one...
I agree. If West Coast believe he can add something to the 22, pick seventeen is not too much to pay. Below are the last 10 pick 17s. Like any draft pick, it's hit and miss. Wellingham's name would sit in the top few of that list.

Clay Smith
Shaun Atley
Daniel Menzel
Sam Bleese
Harry Taylor
Shaun Hampson
Darren Pfeiffer
Andrew McQualter
Billy Morrison
Cameron Faulkner
I think we we got lucky with Atley, it probably wouldn't have happened if Gold Coast didn't have half of the picks before him (as they didn't rate him highly) and a few clubs went for more need type of players than best available.

From what I recall I heard in August that we were still keen on Koby and they felt he was returning home at seasons' end, he was one of the mids in 09 that we looked seriously at and might have come our way if the cards fell that way. Not sure if that means we will chase him or not but I thought it was interesting at the time. Apparently Caddy was touring our facilities today, probably wont be much left in the kitty if we are in the picture for a trade for his services.

We have delisted Neates and cut Michael Mascoulis, Anton Hamp, Callum Papertalk off the rookie list with Stevens and looks like lynch will go aswell.
sounds bad, but my dodgy satelite box is out of action so I never saw them play WAFL.

looks likle we are keeping plenty of other list cloggers and WAFL reserves players?

What does everyone recon was Koby's best game for us?

I can't for the life of me remember a 'stand-out' game he played, but remember him being serviceable in 2010...

Do we blame the guy getting games or the guy giving the games to him?
Option C, we blame:

For a few reasons.
1) He is choosing to leave.
2) His form clearly wasn't good enough to force anybody else out of the side. And apparently it wasn't even good enough for him to be given opportunities before Swift or Dalziell. If he'd been consistently good in the WAFL all year he would have been given more opportunities at AFL level.

Thirdly is more of my personal opinion and a reason I'm not terribly upset about losing him. I realise he was reasonably young but when he did play at AFL level he didn't do anything spectacular. He did a lot of okay things that basically any fringe player could do. Guys like Swift and Masten are prone to do terrible, horrifically ugly things on occasion which sticks in people's minds (Masten less so this year). But they also do a handful of outstanding things when they play that go unnoticed by 95% of West Coast fans who like to focus on the bad things. Koby didn't screw anything up too badly, but he never looked like doing anything amazing at AFL level either.

Time will tell, but I don't think it's fair to blame Woosha or Swift for this, Koby is rolling the dice and looking for opportunity elsewhere so that's who I blame. But I don't have any ill-will either, I hope he flourishes in the VFL.

That assumes they're bothered by it.

For all we know they might be thinking "there's not much on offer here, next year looks better. Why don't we go for some long shots and re-evaluate at the end of the year. If they come on unexpectedly - fantastic, if they don't - we're better positioned next year".

Nice comprehension skills there. Just in case you missed it, 'cos you weren't around much last year - http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/eagles-in-the-all-australian-squad-of-40.867387/
So you're talking specifically and exclusively about trading Priddis?

What's with the weird, opaque reference to "AA squad level players"? Are we meant to guess which one you mean?

Doesn't seem like you had much to add on that part of the port did you, but hey, the Jamie Cripps ref sure got your attention again!
It got my attention because it's unmitigated, made up bullshit. Not sure how that's a win for you.

I guess you'd rather spend your time looking cool shooting down that stuff than actually bring something to the conversation?!
You're right. I'm more inclined to point out ridiculous strawman arguments than play 'let's pretend' regarding fanciful trade scenarios. Sorry for having both feet in reality.

Anyway, I'm asking you seriously, what (in your not so humble opinion) would it take to get a Bennell/Swallow/Conniglio/O'Meara? What about making a run at Caddy or Toy (who was top 3 rated for that draft and who Quayle thought was on par with Swallow)? How much for Jack Trengove?
Find someone else to indulge this nonsense.

I've never understood why Koby couldn't get a proper look in at WCE - 11 games in 3 seasons wasn't reward for his WAFL efforts when you look at the talents of some of the other fringe players who were given a more consistent go. Every time I wandered down to Shark Park number 27 simply looked a class way above everyone else running around out there. His game in Sunday's GF was another typical great performance from the young lad!

Not trying to stick the boot into you guys but I hope he goes back home and puts your match committee to shame once he finds a team willing to give him consistent game time. I will not be surprised in the slightest if he becomes a future A-grade midfielder. Still only 21...

Any one playing freo
Realistically a team challenging like Hawks or collingwood could do really well with koby, may be able to get a late 1st rounder. A bit different to the Ebert trade have a few clubs interested.

Don't want Lucas (don't see where he would fit in are team)

Pretty interested to just use the pick in the draft.

The mid we want/need for a flag doesn't seem available in trades.
