Best players were Vic Metro

Petracca very impressive big bodied mid that wins his own ball has pace and good decision making and clean ball skills closely followed by Brayshaw who has similar atributes. Ahern looks like a classy mover he bagged 3 goals up fwd and can play in the midfield.

Best players for Wa

Were hard to find but liked the look of Keitel kicked 2 goals and has good hands in the marking contestand then played down back .Garlett looks to be a good mover as well kicked a nice running goal from the boundary line from 45 metres into the wind and really took the game on and went for a few long runs down the wing has pace and reminds me of a brad Hill .Pickett just didn't perform but had 1 good moment in the 1st quarter that saw him run and carry and use pace and kick long into the fwd line that resulted in a goal for Wa..Waterman was going against Petracca and was unsighted but did put in a good last quarter effort against the breeze .

Will add some more later.
Petracca and Waterman barely went near each other. De Goey and Menadue were on him.

I thing from what is available we look at Morobito and Rohen very closely. They meet our need. Clutterbuck?? from EP may be ok at a late pick but I have not seen enough of him.

Please keep away from emotive U18 WA picks as the team is weak.

last year Sheed we better than a sliced bagot on here now he is struggling at WAFL level. We need to be smarter than pick 3 for masten

The team performance doesn't rule out talented individuals. WA's side lacks pace which we also lack, so we'll need to look elsewhere for it. But don't go ruling players out because they come from any state. Which is what you take issue with, right?

And No to Clutterbuck.

no speed, no team orientation, no leaders - well at least they will fit in. My point is stop ruling out players because they are no from WA. Just recruit what we need - big bodied fast mids

All the talk here is about local U18, father son that may go round 3 because they are not good, and returning stars that are under contract and will never be available to us. Two players that meet our need but are currently no able to get a game in top 4 teams are Rohan and Morabito.

We would be silly if we don't go after morabito, especially if the reports about him wanting out and game time are true. Big bodied mid with pace and skills is a need for us. Waterman is a first rounder who MAY and probably will go 2nd. Nobody is really expecting us to get him for a third.

Need to trade one or two of selwood, masten, rosa, priddis for a low draft pick. Draft an a-grade player, Play sheed. Midfield problem solved
This has absolutely no potential drawbacks or complications. Let's just do it.

More hyperbole from you, but you don't know the players in question or the issues with the state side. Stop pissing into the wind and calling it rain. The issues with the WA side are known. They have too many inside players, not enough pace and struggle in transition to outside play. They also have too few capable or natural defenders. Walsh was a good enough leader to be named captain of the AIS, his issue for me is he's not in WA's best midfield rotation anymore.

Lack of discipline i'd agree with, but it comes back to not having a unit that gels properly on field and having a depth and diversity of talent that allows you to cover for each others weaknesses. Smith i'll take particular issue with, should have been brigged last year and told to straighten his on field antics out.

Waterman is a first round talent, probably not a top ten pick but he's a pure footballer that will appeal to too many other clubs. The people here talking about him going third round are being optimistic in the hope of having a dabble in the second round. End of.

Talent identification should center on the players in question and their exposed form across all levels, placing a crap load of emphasis on form at the champs also hasn't wielded strong results for recruiters because it's only part of the talent identification process.

They lack a top line key forward target atm. Dixon, Lynch and Day aren't stars as yet. That said GC wouldn't do that trade. O'meara is a freak.
You need to watch more GC games ... there's no way they'd want Kennedy ...

I watch every Gold coast game, They are my number 2 team. Every team in the comp would want Kennedy, he is a top 5 key forward. GC Have a good bunch of KPF's Talls who compete really well but they aren't stars yet. Admittedly they would probably prefer a KPD but May has been a gun this year, which has limited the need.

I reckon they are more than happy with their 2 x 21 year olds and their 23 year old KP players... who provide a nice mix of skills, including toughness and versatility ...

I just don't reckon they'd see any value in trading for a Kennedy ...
