pfft. you need to get off the cones champ.
Stellar response ....

To clarify for the criminally slow, I'm sure they'd find a spot for him if he walked in the door but the idea that they'd put any thought at all into trading for a Kennedy and contemplate doing it for any of their first 5 or 6 mids is crazy - they don't need him. Which is what I said in my first post ...

I reckon they are more than happy with their 2 x 21 year olds and their 23 year old KP players... who provide a nice mix of skills, including toughness and versatility ...

I just don't reckon they'd see any value in trading for a Kennedy ...

I agree, would be a far more beneficial trade for us than them.

criminally slow?!

cheers man... though tbh was hoping you'd just send me another narky PM like last time i dared to disagree with you.

what you actually said is there's no way GC would want kennedy (no mention of cost etc).

Yes I did. But it was in the midst of a chain of posts where the context was obvious ...

Hence the criminally slow comment ...

Don't recall the PM. I'm sure it was warranted :)

So, are we now in the market for a key defender or do we think we have it covered?
It's an interesting question. Obviously today Brown took a small, which he's done a bit of but against sides with 2 genuine tall forwards and maybe a resting ruck it either means sacrificing McGovern or finding an alternate and it requires Schofield to take genuine tall marking types which isn't a strength ...

We've gone from 4 "tall" defenders to 2 and certainly it seems to put us at some obvious risk with Sydney this week

Our last premiership winning side only had one genuine key defender in Glass. Hunter punched above his weight, Jones was a good third tall and the rest was made up of medium/smalls.

Until recently we've been going with two (Glass and Mackenzie), grooming a third (Brown), and playing Schofield who while agile is 196cm tall. I was comfortable with Mackenzie being the main man and Brown taking the Hunter role but we're now down to just Mackenzie and Schofield - who is pretty poor one on one.

I reckon with whatever we have available next week against Sydney we're going to be in a world of poo given how poor we are in the middle..

modelling our list/team structure on that mid-'00s team makes as much sense as modelling it on our 90's premiership teams. i think simpson is on the right track in talking about versatile players across the ground. of course we don't necessarily have those sort of players on our list right now, however...

Any news on brown ? If he is out for a traditional knee recon he will not be back to full fitness until 2016 maybe play second half of 2015 but won't have confidence and agility .
Schofield is now number 2. Maybe need a third tall defender . Doesn't have to be as big just 190+
Jordan Lockyer anyone ?
Much rather trade for him than keep Wilson on the list .
Also the idea of McInnes has been thrown around and I think if he and gov play out the rest of the season rotating fwd / back it will give us a clearer indication of the state of our list!
We always talk about our abundance of talls let's see what they have to offer

Brown looks like its a reconstruction but Adam Simpson saying there is actually a small chance that its not as bad as expected , maybe false hope that its only a medial strain/tear .

Here's hoping , either way probably out for the season now .

To get O' Meara, you would probably have to trade away your first pick plus Kennedy, which won't happen.

A skilfull midfielder with decent pace would have to be top of the hit list in the draft, Petracca would be perfect but is likely to go top 5, therefore any 1 of Pickett, De Goey or Brayshaw should be considered.

Waterman definitely a 2nd round pick imo.

A Lycett and Selwood package may net us Melbourne number 4 pick.
Meets their needs.
Meets ours.
We need to give up something of value.
I wouldnt trade Lycett. Sinclair and Selwood is enough value IMO. Sinclair would address their needs.

James Rose from SA is all class. Interesting to see how Caleb Daniel goes, killed it against vice country but is very small, wonder if that'll deter recruiters.
Caleb Daniel wow this SA little man was outstanding got 27 disposals 8 tackles and 3 goals size is definitely the issue 167 cm 68 kg may mean a bargain if he falls down the draft ranking . Sheehan says he has run a 16.1 beep test and has good pace.

Sounds like a dalhaus type player . Take it he was playing through the midfield with those numbers or HFF ?

I'm probably not the first person to float this but has anyone given any thought to chasing Morabito?

The suspicion is that Fremantle don't have a lot of cap space if they're going to sign Fyfe and Mundy and I can't imagine Mora is too happy to still be playing reserves.

On the other hand, we can sell him on a lot of midfield time, a senior game every week, probably a pay rise and staying in WA.

We could probably get him for a song considering his injury history and lack of senior selection. In return we get a big bodied mid with a bit of pace, which is obviously exactly what we're looking for.

I know he probably loves Freo and I imagine he wants to break into the team and push for a flag but I'd hope we're looking into this in case he's growing restless.

*Yeah, I know he's done his knee 12 times.

Would definitely take Mora but I imagine he'll be in their team over the next few weeks and will play a big role in the finals/re-sign before the end of the year.

Would happily take Mora, but id say he'll stick with Freo. Been through too much there and they've stuck by him - cant see him leaving.

If he did want out though, we'd be stupid not to check in.

The commentator s did mention Dalhause and also some comparisons to Prestia ball winning .He played through the middle and fwd very good by foot and hand also a leader around the game. All of his goals were good he kicked one on the run from 55 metres with the wind and a Brilliant snap from the boundary point post in heavy traffic ,lucky yeah was his day..But size is bound to be the issue even though he gets a lot of the ball.Wears no 1 for Sa and a helmet .

I dont see the appeal with Mora. He has played one season and most of it was average. Since then he hasn't played for 3 and a half years after multiple injuries. He would have to be really cheap.
