This has absolutely no potential drawbacks or complications. Let's just do it.
All signs are pointing to us, being stuck as a mid-table team over the next 4-5 years. The midfield ceiling at best is average, The young core of this midfield has to change, or we are going to be stuck like this for a very long time, if we persist with the likes of selwood, masten, Rosa, Gaff.

Priddis at best has got another 2-3 years in him unfortunately, likewise wellingham. It's highly doubtful we'll be able to lure a big homesick free agent, Building through the draft is the only way to resurrect this team.

Gaff wasn't too bad yesterday actually. I thought he was OK in parts.

Gaff is our best midfield talent has been improving every game this year . Was good again yeaterday ! He has so much upside unlike masten selwood Wellingham who seem to have hit there ceilings

Gaff is 22 this year, and is starting to show some aggression (Take the game on, tackle). It's possibly always going to be something he has to work on but if like Rosa we can make it his ongoing aim to go when it's his turn we should see him flourish. He is too smart a footballer not to flourish if placed in a difficult situation. The problem is getting him to do it regularly.

On the money there.
I think he has really come on this year.
He seems to have adapted to the Simpson plan with ease.
He reminds me a bit of a young DelSanto who also was a bit soft in his early days.
My St Kilda mate used to call DelSanto "Suitcase" because he was always packing himself.

Any interest in Mitchell from Port? Still on the rookie list and certainly has pace and endurance. Seems to do well in link play by hand, chases and tackles well and recall he modelled his game on Cousins (Eagles follower).

Wouldn't be easy to get as he's getting games in a successful side about to play finals but you never know. He would add more to our midfield depth than others on our list and wouldn't cost the earth.

Also anyone know much about Newton at Port?

Mid to late first rounder 12 > would be my guess.
What...why would anyone pay that for him? I mean he's not a bad player, adds great depth but isn't going to be the missing link to a flag. Isn't going to help a struggling team get of the bottom. Why else would you pay a first rounder for any player?

Mitchell can't kick, it's why he slipped to the rookie draft

Go and make a list of players picked in the first 15 picks for the past 10 years and have a look at the duds who never made any impact at all. Masten at least has the tools to be a B+ mid who you could expect to get 100+ games out of bar injury. Today's game is all about endurance and run. He hasn't got bad skills just not elite skills and he's still young.

Who would pay that? A team who is close but needs more midfielders.

Can't see us trading Masten in any case and if we did it would be in a player swap of some sort.

We would be very smart to chase both Rohan and Morabito. Add those two plus Waterman and our first rounder and it's a spectacular draft and trade period. Would need to potentially trade a player but at this stage there is no reason why Morabito is worth anymore than a third rounder, potentially even a fourth. Would likely need a touch more for Rohan.

We don't have a lot that is worth trading that we can potentially give up though. TBH though if we were to pick up Rohan, Morabito and Waterman i would use our first rounder on the best available tall.
