Do you have much of an opinion on Duggan? I only know what I've read but it sounds positive and at this point, he may be the best available mid at our pick.
I'd like to see Duggan considered as WC's 1st round selection if Petracca is off the table. WC have a host of HBF's who need to be rid of due to either not being good enough, are injury prone or, getting old. A HBF like Duggan offers speed and a good kick. He may well come to be a rotation in the midfield in time, too. He's a good prospect.

Second. Could see us getting a pick 25-30 if another team is desperate.
This is the pick range I believe WC can trade Sinclair for, but perhaps provided WC add a latter round pick into the mix.

A club may not wish to wait the 4-6 years for a young ruckman to develop, so may choose to take Sinclair instead of selecting for the future and playing the waiting game.

Assuming Petracca & Brayshaw are gone:

  • Jake Lever - 192cm KPD. Aggressive, pacy, uses it well. Midfield potential?
  • Jarrod Pickett - 180cm outside mid.
  • Corey Ellis - 185cm creative outside mid. (Described as Didak-like).
  • Liam Duggan - 183cm classy half back/mid.
  • Jordan De Goey - 187cm creative mid/fwd.
  • Lachie Weller - 181cm inside/out mid - brother of Maverick
  • Tom Lamb - 192cm athletic fwd/wing
  • Connor Blakely - 187cm inside mid. (vanilla?)
These from what I have read are all somewhat in the same range. Lever the most likely to go top 10.
Cheers, Petercca and Brayshaw killed it in the last U18 game i watched and would obviously be happy with either of them as our first pick.

Liked the skills of Duggan too but will have to keep an eye on some of these players in the next game.

mate, follow track up a few posts I've been replying to and been replied to. question was 'mitchell from port'. i think thats whom everyone is talking about.

now if some others decided to change tack to Tom, thats great. but i doubt it.
My bad, I keep getting confused because I thought Obeanie was talking about Tom. Anyhow, FWIW, if we're seriously considering Kane Mitchell we all have rocks in our head.

It's fantastic if you can run that fast but utterly useless if you don't use it. Saw him jogging along the wing in the WA v VM match and I was saying to my son, if he motored to this player running past (because it was obvious that was who the ball was going to) he could stop him. Instead he jogs along and then motors once the player has the ball. Wow, he's fast, said my son. Fat lot of good it did him though because he let the player get too far ahead of him, was my response.
It's easy to pick a player to talk down plenty of negative things happen on the field And you chose to go down that path . If I wanted to pot Waterman from the last game I could , even Brayshaw or Petracca .

Also, surely this sort of thing can be coached out of players.

I guess we don't want to end up with another Smith situation but we can't assume that players will always have the same mindset

Yeah of course and also some of these kids have been travelling and training overseas in Europe and look a little jaded and down on form now.

If we finish the season 13th we will have the 6th pick. Any chance Petracca will be available then?

If not, could we upgrade our pick by bundling it with our third round pick and steak knives (like Sinclair)?

Forgot about Goddard. And yeah, Lever's ACL might see him drop a bit. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I have only seen him during the champs. I think he's a good talent but not really what we need. I don't see him as a true midfielder, I think his best position will on the back flank and at best wing at afl level. Most of his possession seems to come from handball receives or intercept marks, he's just made to be a back flanker imo, has all those attributes. He's got a beautiful kick one of the best in the draft and kicks it 60. He's a bit like suckling/birchall, i can see him being a dangerous playmaker in the back half but smart teams will put a forward tag on him and limit his impact. I don't think he will go top 10, i just think he will slide a bit and go in the 10-20 range.

Perhaps he's someone we can target to free up Hurn for midfield time?
I really want us to get another top 20 pick for this draft.

Was never in doubt.
Only thing in doubt was if he got the extra year he wanted, apparently priced himself out of a move home.

So wonder how much of Freo's cap is now eaten up by him and Fyfe? Pav, Sandipants and McPhartwat will be on smaller deals so it will offset that.

Sinclair is worth more to us on our list than being traded for a 3rd round pick.

Not sure why we want to get rid of him? Naitanui is often injured so having that reserve ruckman will be important for depth.
As well as cover up forward if things go really badly.

I can't see us being too active in trade period personally. I think Simpson and the team are going to believe that this year was a transition year as the team learn a new gameplan and want to give players another year.

If things don't improve then we could see some big names offered up.

If we get similar output from Wellingham, Shuey, Selwood and Masten I wouldn't be against putting their names up for trade.
Although another year of shite will greatly lower their worth...
