De Goey is an interesting one and we could take him from under North's nose here (reports are they are VERY interested). He goes in as probably the best inside mid of the 3 players I've named here but with the possibility of Waterman and Adamson as a Category B rookie it will depend on what the recruiters want. Very unique player.
What makes de goey unique? Read that a few times, not sure what it means.[/QUOTE]

Unique in that his not really comparable to a current AFL player. A lot of draftees will have a profile of likened to Player X. For example Petracca, you might suggest his inside game is likened to Dustin Martin or JP Kennedy, Pickett you might liken to Lewis Jetta etc. really just the recruiters naming a player who they think the draftee plays like.

Think of a strong bodied inside mid who can be damaging off HF as well

She has us taking Waterman with our last pick or even Rookie!

That would be awesome if the case...especially if we get into the 8.
She knows he stuff Paige so what she says is very interesting. Interesting that he wasn't invited to the combine either. Could be an indication that there's not much love from other teams unless they are just playing games with us.

Possibly. His been labelled unique because he hasn't drawn comparisons with a current day player, recruiters don't see any other current player with his attributes i guess

Why will Waterman so low?

Surely there has to be a reason? Why couldn't a club force us to pay higher than a late ND / rookie pick???

It's good for us but sounds slightly concerning..

I wonder why he has fallen off the radar of other clubs to this degree? Great for us I guess!

Perhaps he has been getting a lot of TJ's ('tent jobs') recently? :D
A few factors that might make him slide
Poor second half of carnival
Not invited to national combine
Has only played colts this year
Perceived as slow
Go home factor

Still.. a rookie selection? I wouldn't of thought clubs would let him slide to us when all it would cost them is a late 3rd rounder to make us bid at least a list spot? scares me a bit that we over rated him significantly?

It wouldn't surprise me if we perhaps mentioned there was no need to put his best foot forward as we will draft him whatever the cost.

Allows us to draft more talent if he doesn't go first round.

The kid is all class, was touted as top 5 at the start of the year, nothing has changed my opinion of his talents.

He's a steal for our second rounder and if we get him for our third we should all pop some bubbly because we will have just snatched a beauty for next to nothing.

Personally still think he's worth a later first rounder.

If we get him for a 4th rnd I don't mind , it's probably dreaming but we will see..

In the game v metro at Geelong some of his skills were very ordinary this may be a factor too.

I think we should get him for fair value other wise there will be sweeping changes to the father son selections because we possibly tanked to get him at a round later than we could have

N.B. Assumption is WCE want Waterman.

We will pay fair value - the other clubs through their interest (or lack of) will determine the 'purchase price'.

In some respects it is a little like real estate. Put a highly sought after property on the market and the buyers can push the price up. Put a dog of a property on the market and the lack of buyers pulls the price down.

Father and son drafting and draft picks used is exactly like that.

I really don't understand how Waterman is slipping when he is playing very good football for his club.

I've asked a recruiter mate. I must know.
Two things to consider

1) Its is only 1 persons point of view - there are many other who differ.
2) There is an unspoken agreement (call it an understanding) between many clubs to let f/s's slide right through if they are not seen to fit within the first rounds. Its as though they feel petty in forcing a f/s club use a pick beyond 40/45 when the difference between kids is marginal and it's speculative at best.

What's your take on the kid BOND 007?

Good kid - good football pedigree - will be successful at AFL level. Too many people in football circles (especially those on the outside who try to judge draft positions) get caught up in the romance of Kouta replicas and forget about the primary purpose of football, which is to get the football, and Waterman will do that in spades. Cause without that ability, all the skills in the world wont help you. I liken him very much to the young Crouch at Adelaide, maybe not as good outside (debateable) but clearly better inside.

If WC get him beyond round 2 then they should be happy as it has the whiff of Priddis all over again.
