Under performed a fair bit then this season.

In all seriousness though Kennedy would be the only player on your list that is better than those 5. Very poor top end talent at the eagles. need to hit free agency and not pick up blokes like Elliot Yeo (lol)
Mackenzie is going to make AA ahead of Thompson and Hurn would sit comfortably among that 5. From what I've seen this season I'd argue that Yeo was an outstanding pickup, he's 21/22? and looks a tall dynamic player suited to the midfield.

HBFlanker you may have heard of Wayne Carey.
Just some Carey/Darling comparisons
Darling. Carey
Year 1. 23 Games. 284 Disposals. 103 Marks. 24 Goals. 4 Games. 34 Disposals. 14 Marks. 0 Goals
Year 2. 24 Games. 266 Disposals. 131 Marks. 53 Goals. 21 Games. 290 Disposals. 98 Marks. 38 Goals.
Year 3. 21 Games. 248 Disposals. 84 Marks. 42 Goals. 14 Games. 188 Disposals. 84 Marks. 28 Goals.
Year 4. 22 Games. 314 Disposals. 106 Marks. 40 Goals. 21 Games. 385 Disposals. 157 Marks. 46 Goals.

So it seems Darling was ahead of Carey at the same age. Very, very Interesting.

Darling is a good player i've repeatedly said that, Just not as good you guys pump him up to be.

Next 2 years are huge for him, if he can kick 60+ both years he will be in the top level

Lol, hand on your heart if a straight swap was offered for Nic Nat (or Lycett for that matter) for Goldstein North wouldnt take it in a heartbeat?

Of course, that will never happen. And weall know why.

No i wouldnt, Goldstein is the most consistent ruckman in the game. Never gets injured

Who is included in Simmos 5-7 player delist this september?
The easy ones that come to mind for me are;
1. Brennan
2. Smith
3. McGinnity and/or Hill - probably wouldnt be both though.

Also would consider;
4. Waters - would probably give him 1 more year considering he didnt play a game this season, but in my opinion is fast becoming a liability particularly how injury prone he is.
5. Bultler - getting old, and slow. Doesn't offer too much besides possibly leadership and game experience.

Add in 6. Cox and 7. Glass retiring.
Thoughts?

Some people seem to be in favour of delisting Wilson; I'm not sure why.

McGinnity just signed for 2 more years, why would we sign him then drop him, forcing us to pay out his contract? Can people please just stop putting McGinnitys name up as a delist option

Won't be McGinnity or Butler. Ginna just re-signed (unfortunately) and Simmo has made it fairly clear he wants Butler to stick around (fair enough, he's been good lately).

Brennan and Smith should go. They haven't done enough to prove their worth in the chances they've had, particularly given that Simmo has been willing to experiment with giving fringe players games throughout the season. I'd throw Wilson into that category too.

Hill is borderline. He's had a few chances now. I thought he might just have shown enough to stay in contention but we clearly need to make some space on our list.

Haven't really seen a whole lot of Carter, thought he was reasonable but not hugely impressive.

Pretty confident that Waters will get another year.

Not tall enough to play key back . Not quick enough to be a medium small defender . His only good attribute IMO is his kick . But we have hurn ,McGovern , schofield , bennell and Ellis all just as good or better kicks and better suited defenders .
Wafl player at best . Delist .

And thats fair enough but I disagree.

His 2012 was outstanding, over 50 goals and what not (at 20).

Lets be honest 2013 was a horror show for everyone but he still managed 43 goals.

And this year he was injured, yet still played well towards the end of the year.

A gun.
I'm over the Darling argument, but as we all know, using stats is not the best way of determining how good a player someone is.

Couple of guys named Jack Anthony and Ben McKinley both kicked 40+ goals in their second seasons and are now nowhere to be found.

Comparisons to Carey and J Brown using stats alone are ridiculous.

Wilson is exactly the sort of player we should be delisting. I'd be throwing Carter in there as well, though if we have plans for SHepp or Bennell to move up the ground, he may be required.

He is the epitome of a depth player in an area where we plenty of depth (and pointy end talent).

His spot disappears and we have a chance of adding more midfidlers into the mix

Was thinking about us resigning McInnes . The fact we have such a plethora of key position players other clubs would be targeting our young KPP like McInnes that are getting to the age when they should be playing but can't due to our depth . Maybe McInnes has had some clubs sniff around so we resigned him so we will be fairly compensated .
Maybe we could trade him for a fringe mid from another side .
What do people think of Simpkin from hawks ? Has played some good football in the second half of the season and Simpson probably has some pull being at the hawks .
