Wellingham has actual skill and class and just needs to get his fingers out of his ass. Mcginnity has no skill what so ever.
Wellinghams skills are overrated he can kick a beautiful goal on the run but grubbers and overcooks easy kicks . People remember the great kicks he does but forget the crap ones
. When he got traded from collingwood there board was laughing that we paid a first rounder for their clanger king .
Where did this myth that he has great skills come from ?

Watching the GC game, we gotta make a play for some of the WA guns they have running around.
One of Swallow, Martin, O'Meara & Bennell would improve us infinitely.

Bennell and / or Martin would be mostly likely.

On a side note did anyone notice Matera and how a few of our guys were gunning to nail him, McGinnity and someone else chased hard and knocked him down as he was kicking. Matera looked like he was giving a bit of cheek and our boy's didn't mind giving it back with interest.

EMac played well from the beginning
Agree on the rest

I beg to differ there EM was bloody woeful at the start .... But we persisted with him , got games into him and now we are reaping the rewards . But his first 30 games for is were very ordinary and he actually cost us a couple of close game with shocking turnovers , I can remember the shanked centring kick that let the Swans win .

Yeah I thought he showed some things on the weekend. Like the ability to hit a target. Would prefer what I saw of him on Sunday to Shepperd.

If wilson could add 4/5 kgs to help him hold his ground and not be psushed aside so easily he would make it. Has elite disposal (distance and accruacy) and reasonble pace.

Would not delist.

Adding kilo's won't help him defend taller forwards and he's already too slow to defend the smaller players. Great kick, but he's a tweener, never going to be an AFL level player.

I remember the Sydney game Emac coughed up with his lazy left boot. We really deserved to win that too.

And then there was the 2011 saints game where he took a divet out of the ground doing a grubber kick.

Would be so glad for the bloke if he got rewarded with AA this year.
Best key defender in the game.

Mackenzie (and Schofield) showed bucketloads defensively from the outset. I remember thinking they were pretty much our only shining lights in 2008. They made a couple of mistakes under pressure here and there but were always good defensively for their age. I don't think the club had to think too hard about persisting with them.

McGovern was performing really well at the start of his second year before getting injured and being on the rookie list I also think it was a no brainer.

McGinnity getting another contract would be the definition of persistence imo.

I don't like this word but de goey is a bit of what they call Vanilla has a decent kick but for a midfielder of his size he wont and cant tackle is that what we really want ?

The thing I like about de goey is the potential to be an inside/outside mid with that bit of size we need. Take your point about tackles and his disposal numbers aren't ideal, but you can coach that stuff to some extent. But yeah maybe doesn't have the class of an ahern or pickett.

thoughts on going after mitch robinson or jeff garlett guys? robinson is a big mid, although may not fit into a no dickhead policy. may benefit from a change of scene? garlett quick though possibly flakey attitude?
