Just on the potential swap of picks with Collingwood; if someone like Aish slides to pick 6, could we orchestrate some sort of givesies backsies get-out clause with Collingwood?

It's taken the better part of a day, but people are finally realising that we should hold onto pick 6.
I haven't.

People are still being irrational and thinking "unless someone else wants Sheed, why should we?" This is dumb and an overly simple way of looking at it. We need mids, not lanky flankers or runners that might one day play in the middle.

The logic displayed by some would see us draft a KPF just because a team that needs one (say Freo) wants to draft one with a high pick, despite our needs being mids, mids, and more mids.

I don't think that's the concern for most.
Simply that pick 6 may yield us a better player than Sheed.

exactly. we wouldn't be taking this decision lightly. Seems to be a very calculated risk that's very worth taking.

if it works out and we get sheed, it will have ended up being a very smart move by us.

I'm not sure hindsight works completely like that.
The decision is on the merits here and now.
Not in a month or five years.
Oh, look what you've done.
I've gone all philosophical.
I did mention it's a calculated risk. it's not like we're just gonna do the trade and sit there with fingers crossed on draft day.

If we had sorted a deal with Collingwood wouldn't it have been done? Vince to Melb happened pretty quickly after the compo picks were given and with the whole Delsanto thing with Norf and the Saints it seems like they were waiting for some inside Knowledge about compo picks. bit dodge hey
