It's a matter of context. We all know what rape means in a literal sense, but we're not talking about a literal sense, but rather, a figure of speech. Folks have resorted to use of "bent over", but Larri seems to take issue with that as well. I find it nonsense that grown men have to censor themselves to pander to the soft sensibilities of a seeming minority.

I cannot understand any context other than the literal context. The term makes no sense to me in anything but the literal context and I don't see how that context is relevant in the way in which it is used. Maybe that's just me.

Yeah but you're a brainwashed feminazi unthinking fanboi so your opinion is invalid

I think it's just you. Your generation may not use the word in a figurative sense, but language evolves. In this case a literal sense has a different meaning to its figurative, common use, sense.

OK, but can we agree not to use the term? Surely other words can convey the message people are trying to get across?

I won't agree to censorship. I reject it. I'm sure the mods will act in an a fashion that suits their own ideals though.

After the term 'arse rape/d' was said to not be used by Larri, "bent over" was an alternative term that started to be used more often. Larri then said to put an end to the use of that term, too. No matter how it's worded, it's an attempt to convey the same thing, hence no re-wording of such is going to be permissible to those with touchy sensibilities. Perhaps it's those with the touchy sensibilities that need to harden up, rather than making the likely majority conform to a seeming minority.

I reckon you should start trying to evade the Bigfooty swear filter. That would strike at the heart of censorship...

Arse rape, bent over, harden up? Tell me about your mother.....

It's not just ideals it's common sense tesser. It's an ugly term and doesn't need to be used. Surely people are smart enough to think of an adequate term to replace it. Surely?

I'm sorry tesser, I don't like the expression and don't think it's required. As I pointed out, there are many other, probably more suitable and relevant, expressions to use.
The term rape means a sexual assault against another person without their consent. Not a particularly nice act and the term certainly doesn't engender positive responses.
In this particular context how does one 'rape' the draft?
I'd prefer the term not to be used, to be honest.
I have the same reaction. I don't like people using it so casually.

But if someone said "we murdered it" instead of "we r*ped it", would people be as uncomfortable? I doubt it, even though the same objection could be made.

I think the question is whether people should be banned from being crass. Probably not.

Point very well made. Yes, we could all make an objection for various terms.

Any danger of actually discussing the draft in this thread? So much crap.

Agreed, was thinking that myself and apologies for contributing to it.
So, how 'bout this rookie draft?
Newman
Johnson
Templeton
Weller, I reckon it's worth having a punt on him.
