I've been saying it for ages...

He's a very flawed player.

Regardless of his nous for kicking goals, a small forward who doesn't chase, doesn't provide defensive pressure and is suspect under physical pressure, is not going to make it at AFL level.

If he gets drafted and turns it all around, good on him, but I haven't seen signs to suggest that will occur.
Was he kicking most of his goals playing as a small forward or just leading out of the square? I seem to recall something along those lines.

He played out of the goal square for a period of time and then as a medium forward for a while. I don't think he would have kicked many genuine crumbling goals. swannies you agree/disagree? I know you're more of a fan than I am.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere guys.

Can't see Shuey moved on this year unless we are offered overs, very much a required player with our lack of mid stocks I would have thought.
Pick 2 or 3 from Melbourne or Bulldogs or GTFO.

We'll even throw in Ash Smith.

With picks 2/3 and 6 we could land Aish / Billings and Sheeds.

Don't want to lose Shuey but pick 2 or 3 would help me get over it.

If Pies want him then they can cough up both first rounders and Shuey + our 2nd can go back.

Picks 6, 10 + 11 would land us some very nice mids.

Sheed, Marsh + ?

This Shuey trade isn't going to happen, but Marsh is all upside and not enough displayed form. Lacks ball-winning nous in the middle and his performance in front of goal as a forward is shaky to say the least.

Acres/Dunstan/Salem/Dumont offer far better value on our second pick if we were to go in at 10, while if we had 11, one of those guys would also be available. Dunstan and Dumont are being heavily overlooked IMO, especially given their performances at U/18's.

If we had a second pick, we could then go for Tsitas, Cripps or Battersby IMO, but if we traded that I'd still be comfortable with a third rounder knowing Robertson, Garlett and even Jansen might be there. Sokol and Hampson for Fourth Rounder/Rookies and we're set IMO.

Tell you what though, if Shuey does decide to leave then I think we should just never draft a Victorian player ever again- don't mind anywhere else around the country but just no Victorians, there's to many seagull teams over there wanting to steal our chips.

Should be a big negative when drafting from here on. Put a cross in the box on Victorian draftees.

I know he is worth more than pick 2 in this draft but I doubt we'd get more than that for him.
I think pick 2 is overs for Shuey.

Sure he's a known quantity but pick 2 this year gets you the best ranked mid or Boyd if he doesn't go #1.

Have a look who has gone 2 in the past 10 years.

The best ranked midfielder is James Aish and he is a good prospect but nothing special IMO. Not much difference between him and Sheed or any of the others. It's just a really flat draft from about pick 2-20. I'd rather keep Shuey.

Of the midfielders - id prefer Shuey over coniglio and trengove

About par with Bennell, but I reckon he will surpass Shuey

Would take Cotchin though

talk about trading Shuey is still hanging about, i wonder if there is something going on or it just gives the journos something to write.

if true we should demand pick 2 and send that to GC for D.Swallow - if not true, happy to keep Shue
