If Pies want him then they can cough up both first rounders and Shuey + our 2nd can go back.
I would so do this deal.

However, I don't think WCE will deal on Shuey this season, even if he does want out, despite it being a pretty good opportunity to do so if he is contemplating a move home. Would be a good as time as any to snare two first rounders for him as opposed to waiting another year.

He played out of the goal square for a period of time and then as a medium forward for a while. I don't think he would have kicked many genuine crumbling goals. swannies you agree/disagree? I know you're more of a fan than I am.
You're right Underdog, I'm sure he crumbed a few, but the only one I really remember was down at Freo Oval against Sowfs. He's not what I would regard as a crumbing forward.

Its well known Rosa asked to leave if Woosha was staying on after Woosha froze him out somewhat. Think Simpson will need to make a call here.

IMO we should try and trade for a 2nd rounder too send to Brisbane for Yeo. (pick 30ish).

Whether that be Sheppard or Rosa is up to Simpson. Id prefer Shep go out of the two.

Rosa > Sheppard, Sheppard has greater upside sure but I'd prefer the known quantity of Rosa in the middle, especially if we're going to reduce Dalziell and Priddis' contributions to the middle (We're assuming that might be on Simmo's agenda). Rosa at least offers a mature and hardened body who can play a variety of roles.

Sunday Times say Collingwood is into Shuey , also Melbourne .

Collingwood haven't much to offer in picks but Melbourne do . Adam Simpson will make the judgements on players , the sooner he is there the better .

I've posted this before but you just don't pay so much for someone (Sheppard) that is expected to take a while to develop and then sell them off at their lowest value after a couple of injury affected seasons.

He might not make it but wanting to trade him out over Rosa, who is a poor user of the ball and doesn't offer all that much more than Dalziel and has little room for improvement at 27, is crazy.

Yeo being drafted might be because Waters is in doubt , has complications from shoulder surgery and will miss two months of pre season , locked shoulder if it does not improve may be career ending .

I think we're underestimating how Rosa's faced significant limitations in his last couple of pre-seasons. I'm not saying he's going to become a superstar but if he performed to 2011 standards (where he was very solid with a couple of excellent games), I think we'd be foolish to trade him. He offers way more than Dalziell and while I don't want to trade Sheppard; Brisbane ain't going to want Dalziell.

:( I think this killed what little chance there was of Waters being a future captain.

Pies could very well have two first round picks if the Thomas compo is rate band 1.

Which is like 11 and 12 I think. Would take both if Shuey wanted to leave.

We got Wellingham for pick 16. From Collingwoods perspective why would Shuey be worth 11 & 12?

He isn't, and that's why we won't trade him, because his value to us is greater than his value to Collingwood. He'd be fourth rung with Ball (behind Swan, Beams, Pendles) there.

Since when was Rosa a poor user of the ball? Is this 2009?
He had a pretty average season but was easily best 18 before that, offering substantially more than Dalziell.
I agree that we shouldn't be discarding Sheppard quite yet, but Rosa is the best wing option we have outside of Gaff so I wouldn't be discarding him either.

I've been saying it for ages...

He's a very flawed player.

Regardless of his nous for kicking goals, a small forward who doesn't chase, doesn't provide defensive pressure and is suspect under physical pressure, is not going to make it at AFL level.

If he gets drafted and turns it all around, good on him, but I haven't seen signs to suggest that will occur.
Of course the fact that he isn't actually being considered/drafted as a small forward may be a factor against your position.

He's a forward/midfielder not a small forward.

Anyone considering drafting him is looking at whether he can develop into the mid/forward that his skillset would suit and that could see him a star. He's never been considered Eddie Betts material.

But nice way to incorrectly pigeonhole a guy then criticise him based on your flawed view....

He'd struggle at fullback too. Don't draft.

Rosa is an adequate ball user but hardly a player that worries other sides with his kicking skills. He's a hard working spread player with no hurt factor apart from his ability to work ...

He is better than Dalziell, but so am I. He's an abjectly poor AFL player and demeans the discussion :)

Our outside players are pretty average and whether Rosa stays or goes doesn't realy matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

I would prefer WC to use other options on the opposite wing to Gaff. Masten and Wellingham can both play on the wing but then give Schofield and Yeo significant time on the wing. Plus if Sheppard has a good preseason he should be used more on the wing.

We need pace out on the wings and players that will take the game on. Rosa doesn't fit that description. And yes, I don't rate his kicking.

You have generally have to give up something to get some thing. I don't think we should trade Rosa for nothing but he is one of the few players that will have a bit of currency and won't hurt the team that much.
