We got Wellingham for pick 16. From Collingwoods perspective why would Shuey be worth 11 & 12?
I think relatively speaking, Shuey is the more individually credentialed player (marginally) viewed as having greater upside.

He is also worth more on the open market. I reckon MFC would gladly trade pick 2 to secure him.

Who in the draft would you back to be a better inside midfielder than Shuey? There really aren't any outstanding candidates, and our midfield is weak enough as it is.
Who are these 10+ players?
Who gives a shit about ducking? Every team has stagers and duckers
Any fan who has a little pride and doesnt adopt a win at all costs attitude cares. Ducking is a blight on the game. Players should be encouraged to break through tackles, or get off a handpass. Instead our group of plodders developed a culture of playing for a freekick, and we had 4 of the worst. Every team has 1 or 2, but the last couple of seasons its been rife in our team. And if we arent ducking for freekicks, then Cox is flinging his arms about and looking at the umpire after every ball up and throw in. I hate soccer for all the staging and bullshit those pansies carry on with, and guess what - weve been the biggest bunch of stagers in the league the last couple of seasons. I seriously hope Simpson cuts this crap out from our game.

Sorry for not looking at our team through rose coloured glasses, but the sport is football.

Written by an Eagles fan (like you) here's OWAAT's look at West Coast's off season.

Age of the list, strengths, weaknesses, trade bait, untouchables and some potential moves.

While there you can check out similar looks at other AFL clubs.

Agreed, we have staged over the past two seasons more than most. In fact the tactic worked for a year and perhaps it took its toll last year once everyone realised the ploy. I also think it doesn't look good for us and it has given opposing clubs ammunition to have a go at the team. We don't need to carry on with this stuff to succeed.

I'm not defending the ducking in any way BUT Joel Selwood does it just as much as our boys and is only mentioned in passing by us (eagles supporters) and others. (I rate JS really highly as a footballer btw just making a point)

If we are looking for pace we should seriously consider Joel Wilkinson. Not the most skilled player but can definitely break the lines if given the chance. Played predominately as a backman for Gold Coast, but I would be good across the wing, and forward flanks. Delisted by Gold Coast this year.

2010 Combine Results:
4th - Running Vertical Jump
1st - 20m Sprint
1st - Repeat Sprints
2nd - Beep Test
7th - 3km Time Trial

He is a queenslander so some work would have to be done to convince him to move across.

If we are looking for another solid and mature inside midfielder we should be looking at Kyal Horsley. Is from WA so should be easy enough to convince to head over. Would easily hold a spot in our midfield at the moment. Very unlucky to be delisted by Gold Coast this year - stiff competition in Abblett, O'Meara, Swallow, Bennell, Martin & Prestia. Averaged 4.6 tackles a game and 19 possessions in 2012 but unfortunately only played 1 game this year after doing an ACL.

No thanks. Pace and size ovverrated versus skill. Balance is a greater factor of athletic performance than speed and power anyway, hence the prowess of guys like Mitchell and Pendles. Not quick but excellent balance.

How melodramatic.

We're already losing Adam Selwood and Hams, so we should also get rid of Shuey and Scooter for good measure? Cox too? With Selwood and Hams gone, we're hardly going to have a remarkable amount of duckers relative to the rest of the comp
Trading one ducker/stager to another team doesn't benefit the sport, it just shuffles the deckchairs. Sure, tell them not to duck, but to use the fact they duck as reasoning to trade a player is completely idiotic.

Care to respond to the rest of the post?

So now Boots wants to leave along with Gaff and Scooter.

Not once in any of these "trade rumours" is it mentioned that all are contracted for next season.

No one gets to leave unless WE say so.

Just ask St Kilda.

Typical media trash, we should make a game out of this.

Let's all guess the next player mentioned for trade week that hasn't previously been brought up.

I'll go first.

Murray Newman. :p

I couldn't disagree with any of that, I hate it with a passion. Win by being good at your game not by being the better actor. Watching soccer infuriates me now and I grew up playing that sport as a kid and loved it... we didn't play for frees we earned them. Some of the "playing for frees" performances put on by our boys in the last few years (2 or 3 at least) has been cringe worthy.
Please Adam stamp this out of our game, it's a cancer

Seems Waters' shoulder is still playing up.

Wasn't that Hunter's shoulder problem too? If so this may impact on a Waters - from captaincy to early retirement.
Well, That's not great! Barely out of an injury-riddled 2013, and next season still 6-months away, and it is all starting over again. Damn you Footy Gods, give us a break!
